The zombie snarled at the woman, its eyes filled with bloodlust escalating to insanity. It exuded an inclination for violence that spread through the room like a chilling warning — come any closer, and it would tear the woman to shreds!
This zombie was her son, Li Henian. His parents had him late in life and naturally cherished him. He was the only offspring to carry on the family line of Old Li. If Li Henian wanted anything, they would unfailingly give it to him.
The couple and their son lived in sweet harmony, but they abandoned their daughter, making her feel insignificant in their household.
As if the heavens were playing a cruel joke, a car accident happened when Li Henian was twelve years old, stunting his mental development at the age of twelve forever!
Despite this, Li Xunhao and his wife’s love for Li Henian remained undiminished; they loved him as they always did.
Shortly after the apocalypse, food supplies at their home were diminishing. The couple and their daughter might have sustained on little for a few days. But Li Henian, with the mental agility of a twelve-year-old, equivalent to a child, could barely withstand hunger and sneaked out when his parents and sister were not watching. Unfortunately, he was bitten to death by a zombie on the outside staircase shortly.
When the couple found Li Henian’s corpse, they were overcome with grief. They knew their beloved son was to turn into a zombie, but how could they possibly abandon him?
They decided to move his corpse into this room, chaining it up, waiting for him to gradually turn into a zombie.
After he had turned into a zombie, the couple discovered that zombie Li Henian also needed food. They couldn’t bear to watch their son’s skin decay due to prolonged starvation.
So, they hatched a terrifying idea. They lied about having an excess of food to lure other survivors into their home. They used to attract individuals one at a time to avoid the couple getting overpowered. The couple would trap the survivors, considering any part of their bodies as potential food and then feed it to zombie Li Henian.
As time progressed, the couple had trapped and killed one survivor after another in their building. When there were no more survivors, watching Li Henian barely surviving due to starvation, they ultimately fed their daughter to him too.
Since then, no more survivors visited their place. The zombies only consumed fresh, bloody flesh and had no interest in rotten or long-stored meat. The couple had no choice but to feed Li Henian the stored human flesh. Initially, he wouldn’t eat. But, after the couple left and returned, the stored human flesh had disappeared, presumably eaten by Li Henian. The meat on his body stopped falling off, and he even started to evolve, becoming a Level 2 zombie!
The woman kept a safe distance from the zombie that Li Henian had become. She shook the black bag she held over the bed he was on, scattering the remains and minced meat on it.
"Eat it, Henian. Tomorrow mommy will bring you fresh food, okay, sweetie?"
A gentleness appeared on the woman’s face. She stretched out her hand to touch Li Henian but quickly retracted it, startled by his ferocious behavior.
"Mommy has to go now," the woman said resignedly, turned around, and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. Soon after she closed the door, a delicate and smooth hand emerged from under the bed.
"It’s okay now, mommy is gone. Don’t be scared, little brother. I’ve always been with you."
A petite young girl wearing an extremely dirty dress crawled out from under the bed. The ferocious Li Henian turned docile instantly.
She cleaned up the bed quickly, then lay flat as Li Henian snuggled into her bosom. She gently stroked his head, soothing him like a kitten.
"Alright, now that your sister has eaten, you should eat too. Otherwise, you will get hungry. Okay?"
As she spoke, she lifted a corner of her dress, revealing her jade-like thigh. Li Henian hesitated, his brutish face staring blankly at his sister.
"Go ahead, eat. Your sister will recover!"
She spoke gently, and as if Henian understood, he opened his bloodthirsty mouth and bit down on her thigh.
The moment he bit down, the girl’s face twitched slightly. She squinted and hummed softly, presumably from the pain of flesh being torn from her thigh.
Li Henian’s large mouth tore off a large chunk of meat and swallowed it in one gulp. The girl watched him, a deep affection flashing in her eyes, as if he wasn’t biting into her flesh.
"Have you had enough?"
The girl asked softly, stroking its head. However, Li Henian didn’t respond. He merely scratched five long marks onto her shoulder as if torturing her.
"Then you continue..."
With that, she took out a saw blade and started to cut the chain that bound Li Henian’s waist. A significant part of the chain had already been severed!
When the woman came out, she found that Shen Mingke and the man were already passed out on the dining table. Zheng Minghui, however, was nowhere to be seen. Just when she was about to search for him, his voice echoed from the cabinet close by.
"Sigh, sister, this is your daughter, right?"
"Ah? This one, yes, she is my daughter. What is it?"
"Oh her, she went abroad for studies. I am not sure how she is now. Why are you asking?"
The woman’s face stiffened, and she quickly regained her calm. Her face morphed into an expression conveying concern for her daughter.
"No... nothing. I was just curious."
Zheng Minghui awkwardly smiled, shaking the family photo he held in his hand. He didn’t mean anything, but his eyes were glued to the charming girl in the picture. Ever since he saw Li Qingtian in the family photo, he felt like he was in love.
But hearing the woman say her daughter was abroad, whether it was true or not, he knew he wouldn’t see her anytime soon. So he decided to suppress his feelings for now.
Zheng Minghui sat back at the dining table, opening another bottle of wine and began drinking. For whom he was drinking, he did not know.
Seeing Shen Mingke and the man passed out on the table, Zheng Minghui thought he was going to pass out soon too. He decided to let himself go and also laid down on the table.
"Darling, wake up. These two guys are passed out. Get up quick!"
