“Is that all?” Ning Yichen frowned, “Is it not because…”
“Not because of what?” Ning Ruixin looked at him amused.
“Forget it,” Ning Yichen shook his head self-mockingly.
Just then, a ludicrous thought had suddenly occurred to him, maybe Ning Ruixin hadn’t made a mistake…
But how could that be possible. Even Su Zixi had admitted herself that the one who saved him at that time was Lianxi.
He glanced at Su Zixi, sitting on the sofa, his gaze somewhat obscure.

After a while, the sound of a car engine finally came from outside.
Su Zixi sprang up from the sofa and ran outside.
She knew it was him, it had to be him!
At the doorway, dozens of bodyguards got out of the cars and lined up on both sides, forming a pathway. At the end of the pathway was a black Lincoln SUV, its door now open, and a pair of long hands steadying the door. Then, the man emerged from the car.
After closing the door, He Jingyao saw Su Zixi standing at the entrance immediately. She was in a red dress, indescribably charming and delicate. Her normally exquisite makeup was slightly smudged, making her even more pitiful.
His pupils contracted slightly, and it seemed like black flames ignited in the depths of his eyes!
Su Zixi, however, gave him a radiant smile, lifted her dress, and ran towards him, throwing herself into his arms!
He Jingyao caught her in a full embrace, his large hand resting on her waist, gradually tightening his hold.
“Sorry, I scared you,” he whispered in her ear, his voice deep and husky.
Su Zixi shook her head, her voice carrying a slight sob, “I’m not scared, I knew you would come.”
He Jingyao was slightly taken aback, suddenly realizing this was the first time she had thrown herself into his embrace.
He slowly curled the corner of his lips, gave a faint “hmm,” then bent his head down and kissed her lips.
Su Zixi trembled slightly, but her arms wrapped even tighter around his waist.
The kiss didn’t last long; soon He Jingyao released her, his breath slightly uneven. He chuckled lowly, “Wait a moment, I have to deal with something else first.”
Her face flushed, she nodded lightly.
He Jingyao lifted his head and looked towards Ning Ruixin, who had appeared at the doorway, and gave a slight smile, “Miss Ning, shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”
Ning Ruixin spread her hands with a rogue-like attitude, “It’s all a misunderstanding.”
“Oh?” He Jingyao raised an eyebrow slightly, giving a shallow smile, “If I’m not mistaken, as a special forces instructor on leave, ordering your men to hold a law-abiding citizen at gunpoint seems reason enough for dismissal, right?”
Ning Ruixin also smiled, “But Mr. He, you have no evidence. I suppose you wouldn’t go so far as to let your delicate wife testify against me, would you?”
“Miss Ning, you’re indeed as remarkable as the rumors suggest,” He Jingyao hooked the corner of his lips.
Ning Ruixin seemed to want to come closer but was stopped by He Jingyao’s bodyguards. A bit helpless, she raised her voice, “Mr. He, I want to discuss a cooperation with you. You surely wouldn’t deny me the chance to speak, would you?”
He Jingyao raised an eyebrow, silent, then looked towards Su Zixi.
Su Zixi felt somewhat perplexed.
“My dear wife,” his voice was husky and tinged with light teasing, “another person of the opposite sex wants to talk to me. Do you give your permission?”
