He Jingyao let out a light chuckle, shaking his head. “Ask them if they dare to shoot me.”
Xia Xinyu’s complexion shifted subtly, and she looked back instinctively, only to see each person, with the man with the scarred face in the lead, wearing expressions of hesitation and fear.
Kidnapping members of the He Family to extort money was something they dared to do.

Xia Xinyu trembled as though she had been scorched.
“So you see,” He Jingyao’s tone carried a hint of regret. “Unless you kill all members of the He Family except for He Yizheng, he will be eager to distance himself from you.”

He Jingyao raised his eyebrows, remaining silent.
Gasping for breath, Xia Xinyu’s hand holding the handgun kept trembling.
“If you release Zhixi now, then I can pretend nothing ever happened,” He Jingyao said, his eyes flickering. “Moreover, I can ensure that He Yizheng marries you.”
Xia Xinyu was taken aback, a flicker of hesitation appearing in her eyes.
But the wavering in her eyes soon vanished!
She let out a cold laugh. “I don’t believe you! I have offended you… would you really let me off the hook so easily? Whether Yizheng will marry me or not, today I must help him achieve his goal!”
He Jingyao paused, his gaze falling on her handgun. “Are you going to take action?”
“I…” Xia Xinyu bit her lip, her index finger trembling on the trigger, yet unable to apply any force.
“Miss, don’t be rash!” whispered the man with the scarred face. “That’s He Jingyao!”
Xia Xinyu seemed to awaken from a trance.
She pursed her lips and finally put away the handgun, saying coldly, “I won’t kill you!”
“Then what exactly do you want?” He Jingyao asked with a smile.
Indeed, what did she want?
Xia Xinyu suddenly felt bewildered…
She knew that killing He Jingyao meant removing the biggest obstacle for He Yizheng, but then she would be a murderer…
If she became a murderer, would she and Yizheng really still have a chance to be together? Even though she was convinced He Yizheng would never abandon her, in such a situation, even she was not sure anymore.
