“It’s okay,” he said with seriousness, imitating her tone. “You can verify it yourself tonight.”

She clenched her teeth, “Didn’t you say you had a gift prepared for me? Where is it?”
He Jingyao looked at her gritted teeth, a deeper smile in his eyes.
“Right here.” He wrapped his arm around her into the room, stopped at the bookshelf, and then ruffled her hair, “I’m going to take a shower first, if you find it, it’s yours.”
Su Zixi paused and pointed at the bookshelf, “Hidden in here?”
“Exactly,” he said with an inscrutable smile, then turned and walked towards the bathroom.
Su Zixi stood in front of the bookshelf, looking at the large tomes piled up, lost in thought.
Actually, she didn’t have much expectation for the gift itself, since anything he gave her she would like.
But now He Jingyao turned a simple gift into a treasure hunt, and she couldn’t help but look forward to it involuntarily.
Su Zixi thought about it, moved a chair over, and started searching from the very top shelf.
He Jingyao had a wide range of interests and was fluent in several languages, Su Zixi hadn’t found the gift, but she gained a general understanding of his reading tastes.
To her surprise, there weren’t many business management books in the bookshelf, but there were quite a few books on humanities, social sciences, and philosophy. “Keep looking, I’ll be waiting for you in the bedroom,” He Jingyao gave her a devilish smile and turned away without hesitation.
Su Zixi huffed watching his retreating figure.
Who does this, making a gift so complicated! It’s too much!
She didn’t care for it at all!
That’s what Su Zixi thought, yet she couldn’t let it go, in the end, she turned back to the bookshelf and started her diligent search again, grumbling all the way.
Another half-hour passed, and Su Zixi finally made a discovery.
She found a photo inside one of the books.
