Su Zixi nodded with a flickering gaze.
He chuckled softly, pulling her into his embrace once again, and a deep sigh laden with indescribable satisfaction escaped his lips.
Su Zixi also snuggled obediently into his chest.
But soon after, the man’s body stiffened, and then, from above, came his slightly cold voice, “Mr. Ning, what are you doing here?”
Su Zixi then remembered Ning Yichen’s presence and quickly looked up, trying to explain, but He Jingyao pressed her into his embrace once again, even wrapping her up in his coat.
Ning Yichen stood not far away, having already seen their entire kiss.
Maybe because he had accepted reality, after the pain peaked, it numbed him; once numb, he saw even more clearly that in Su Zixi’s eyes, there was only He Jingyao.
So, upon hearing He Jingyao’s questioning, he smiled faintly, “I was just passing by, I saw Zhixi alone here, so I kept her company for a while.”
“Thank you,” He Jingyao said icily, with not the slightest hint of gratitude, “But now that I am here, we won’t be needing Mr. Ning’s company anymore.”
Ning Yichen clenched his fists, ultimately giving a self-deprecating smile, “Alright, I won’t disturb you further.”
Since He Jingyao had the boldness to leave the President’s dinner table halfway through, at least it showed that his feelings for Zhixi were sincere…
Ning Yichen told himself this, pushing down his last bit of reluctance completely.
Yet seeing Su Zixi held tightly in He Jingyao’s arms, he still couldn’t help but leave with the words, “Zhixi, thank you for the tofu pudding; I really liked it.”

Ning Yichen left the restaurant with an easy smile.

He Jingyao looked at him, “What is it?”
“You leaving the table halfway might have upset the President…” Uncle Li started with worry.
He Jingyao didn’t mince words in cutting him off, “I’m not interested in a lecture,” and then took Su Zixi’s hand and headed into the restaurant.
