Ye Shutong sat down across from the two, and at the right moment, Li Bo served hot tea to the trio.

With a faint smile, He Jingyao replied, “Oh? It is I who should be saying sorry. After all, my behavior last night was offensive to not only Miss Ye but also the President.”
Ye Shutong let out a wry laugh, “My uncle was indeed very angry yesterday. I had recommended you to him persistently until he agreed to meet you, but after you left… I spent a long time trying to explain to my uncle, and he was still upset. So, I am truly sorry.”
He Jingyao’s face held a light smile, his expression inscrutable.
He remembered how, during their encounter at the Accord, Ye Shutong’s eyes betrayed a sense of superiority as she introduced him to the President.
He Jingyao could easily guess what she was thinking: See, although you act uninterested in me, can you really refuse the opportunities and benefits I can offer?

Therefore, when He Jingyao announced to the President with a smile that he must take his leave, the certain and superior smile on Ye Shutong’s face instantly shattered.
She seemed utterly unprepared for He Jingyao to reject her to that extent, so much so that when he turned to leave, she called out his name for the first time in a state of disarray.
The President’s anger was not a surprise to He Jingyao, but what did surprise him was that Ye Shutong still refused to give up.
Or perhaps, did she just want to make his life difficult?
“I trust the President’s magnanimity will ensure his understanding,” He Jingyao said with a soft smile. “My wife and I already had plans yesterday, and I could not bear to let her down, which is why I had to apologize to the President.”
As he spoke, the man looked lovingly at Su Zixi beside him.
