Not a lot about the Gu family was mentioned in the novel and the Gu family really only appeared briefly in the extras when Lin Yize got rid of Gu Shao.
Jie Yaobai, an important partner of the male lead, however, was mentioned quite a bit in the actual story.
The book did not have too much details on the background of Jie Yaobai and where he came from. It only mentioned that him and Lin Yize met over a business banquet one time and the two started working with each other.
With the convenience gained from the Lin familys business in logistics and transportation, Jie Yaobais business continued to grow. Lin Yize, on the other hand, had received a lot of information and convenience both on and off the table from Jie Yaobai. The convenience was vague in the novel but it was enough to show that there was someone in high places behind Jie Yaobai.
A few years later, Lin Yize and the Lin Corporation became the top in City B, which allowed him to have the ability to get rid of Gu Shao.
Jie Yaobai, too, rose with the Lin family.
It was mentioned that Jie Yaobai and the lzy had joined force and got rid of a prominent family.
The novel did not detail out which family it was. After all, the male lead and gotten rid of countless cannon fodders and villains over the years.
Came to think about it
Could the Gu family be the family that was supposedly gotten rid of in the novel?!
The possibility of that made Gu Xis face dropped. Shuddered uncontrollably, Gu Xis thoughts became clear slowly.
Joining all the dots together, all of the details in the novel that Gu Xi had ignored in the past started to become obvious.
If this Gu Yaobai is the same as Jie Yaobai in the novel, then everything that would be happening to the Gu family and Gu Shao would make sense.
Yang Wanni, Gu Yaobais mother, was an ordinary nurse in the medical team back in the days. Because of her beauty, she was eyed by a secretive higher up.
Later on, Yang Wanni and a few other good-looking girls had been sent over to that higher-up on a regular basis. Sometimes it was his residence, sometimes other entertainment locations.
Owing to the persons status and pressure, Yang Wanni was not able to decline.

Yang Wanni did not fall asleep on the job that day but some sort of drugs that would blur ones consciousness had been added to her water.
That night, Yang Wanni was in her own office while Gu Qinghua was in his own patient room. The two never crossed path.
Someone, however, forged the evidences and surveillance video, leading Yang Wanni to believe that she was touched by Gu Qinghua and went looking for him.
Behind all these, however, was an even bigger and more malicious plan.
