Mu Mingtang sipped her wine leisurely and looked up at the bright, twinkling stars. “Can you recognize constellations?”
Xie Xuanchen, who was pouring wine for Mu Mingtang, took the time to look up: “Hm… I probably recognize a few.”
Mu Mingtang took small sips of the wine as she said, “Then point out the constellations for me.”
Xie Xuanchen, who was familiar with some of them, pointed out a few recognizable ones, and explained them to his wife one by one.
Afraid that Mu Mingtang would get bored, Xie Xuanchen not only pointed them out but also explained their myths.
Mu Mingtang was consuming more wine than she realised as she listened to Xie Xuanchen’s speech.
She forgot she was currently drinking the wine prepared by Xie Xuanchen, not the home brewed one. Therefore, it was conceivable that the wine he prepared had a high level of alcohol.
At first, Mu Mingtang was sitting properly, but then she slowly leaned against the railing. At some point, she closed her eyes and soon drifted into the dreamland.
When Xie Xuanchen didn’t hear any movements beside him, he glanced at Mu Mingtang only to find that she had already fallen asleep. In fact, although Mu Mingtang was drunk, Xie Xuanchen was not, as he didn’t drink as much as his wife.
The atmosphere was perfect at this moment. The sky was full of stars, and the flowers were falling down like rain. Her skin was tinged with pink colour, like a begonia, and she dozed off while leaning against the porch pillar, showcasing a delicate and charming appearance.
Even though the spring breeze was blowing, the night was neither cloudy nor cold, so Xie Xuanchen was not afraid that Mu Mingtang would catch a cold even when she had fallen asleep here. Xie Xuanchen looked at Mu Mingtang’s peaceful sleeping face. His heart was content and peaceful, but soon it skipped a beat.
Xie Xuanchen recalled the conversation with Zhu Yanghong about children.
When he was full of power, he never imagined starting a family or even having children with another person. On the other hand, after the accident, he didn’t even want to live, let alone have children.
But when Zhu Yanghong had talked about this a few days ago, Xie Xuanchen found that although he was surprised, he was not repulsed by the idea. Just imagining that he would have a child with Mu Mingtang made him feel that his heart was going to burst from the joy.
If he were to truly have a child in the future, he must teach them early on that they were the best person in the world and no one could compare to them.
He wanted to be a strict but not alienating father. At least, he did not want to have a father-child relationship like his and his father, Xie Yi.
Xie Xuanchen tinkered with the wine glass in his palm before raising his head and downing the whole glass of wine in one go. With a tongue-click, Xie Xuanchen casually flung the silver cup to the ground.
