Xie Xuanchen grabbed them and locked them firmly in his palm.
“I have always felt that I never lacked anything, which is why I never persistently wanted anything. But today, I found out that I do have something.”
Mu Mingtang couldn’t pull her hands back and somehow, she didn’t dare to look at him, “Why are you talking about this all of a sudden?”
“I have regrets, but also obsessions. Life is impermanent and death is always there. If I die tomorrow, I have no complaints, but I will be very regretful,” Xie Xuanchen’s eyes were bright as his pupils shone under the light, making Mu Mingtang avoid his gaze, “I will regret that all I ever wanted was beside me all along, but I merely trapped myself in my thoughts and never properly tried to take the next step. I will also regret that I’ve only managed to confirm statements by cowardly eavesdropping on your conversations, but never made the effort to ask you about it in person.”
After Xie Xuanchen finished speaking, he looked at Mu Mingtang with burning eyes, “From this perspective, would you regret it?”
This was related to the question that Xiao Siyi asked her a few months ago. Xiao Siyi asked her if she had any regrets getting married to Xie Xuanchen, but Mu Mingtang answered no. Now, he was asking her if she had any regrets.
Mu Mingtang was silent. She had been embarrassed to say it before, so she only dragged it on vaguely like this. She previously assumed that the days she would be able to spend with him were still long and since they had the rest of their lives left to discover, what was the hurry?
But if it went according to Xie Xuanchen’s hypothesis and he were to die tomorrow, Mu Mingtang would definitely feel like her entire life would be turned upside down.
Mu Mingtang had also figured it out. She had always been a very transparent and direct person. In life, her reputation had been something more mundane as long as she was living a good and happy life. There was really no need to not admit the obvious due to her pride and merely shying away from him by wasting each other’s time.
If she liked him, she liked him; if she didn’t like him, then she didn’t— there was nothing embarrassing to admit.

“If I were you, I would.”
Xie Xuanchen finally felt relieved when he heard this sentence. Sure enough, offence was the best defence. He should have taken the initiative to attack earlier instead of wasting so much time previously.
Mu Mingtang saw with her own eyes that Xie Xuanchen’s gaze suddenly lit up. It was as if the stars had exploded in his eyes with a burning beauty. Mu Mingtang faced Xie Xuanchen every hour of the day and logically, she should be used to seeing this. Nevertheless, the look he had today was straightforward and carried a bright passion to it, making her feel a bit surprised.
Mu Mingtang was still embarrassed by his stare and turned away slightly. Xie Xuanchen felt as if he was resurrected— his head didn’t hurt anymore, his words were no longer empty and he even had the urge to do some things that should be done between husband and wife immediately. He suppressed the screaming thoughts in his mind and asked tentatively, “Then, will we get along as husband and wife from now on?”
Mu Mingtang was silent for a while after listening to him before she suddenly looked at Xie Xuanchen in a strange manner, “Well, what did you think of me all this time?”
