Xu Qilang had been hanging out with Xie Xuanchen during this time as he progressively enjoyed bombarding the Prince with his presence. The more Xie Xuanchen ignored him, the more energetic he became. Xu Qilang was originally worried that if his father did not agree to surrender to Xie Xuanchen, wouldn’t they become enemies if they were to meet again in the future? Things couldn’t be better than this. Today, another city was recovered. Xu Qilang was so happy that he scrambled to Xie Xuanchen’s side regardless of the latter’s cold expression. He saw Xie Xuanchen looking thoughtfully at the dancing woman and understood, “That woman is pretty indeed; would Your Highness King Qiyang want to enjoy her services?”
Ever since His Majesty deprived Xie Xuanchen of his title, everyone could no longer call him King An. So, the compromise was to still address him as King Qiyang. This was just great— those addressing him felt it was adequate and Xie Xuanchen himself found it pleasing to the ears.
Xie Xuanchen glanced at him coldly, “I already have a Princess.”
Xu Qilang actually choked on his next words. Men had a low sense of morality, especially when a group of them were mixed together. When soldiers went on an expedition, they always went to the local fireworks alley together while visiting a city. It was a default tradition to have a celebration banquet after the victory of a battle. Various women would be invited to the celebration banquet to join in the fun. If there were any women that the men fancied, they would be invited to enjoy them in order of their military achievements. The love affair would always last for a single night, so when dusk arrived, the two would no longer have anything to do with each other.
Everyone was accustomed to this sort of tradition. Xu Qilang himself sometimes bumped into several of his brothers with random women. The brothers had a tacit understanding of the concept and did not disturb each other. When they returned home, no one would mention it to their sisters-in-law.
So when he heard Xie Xuanchen’s answer, Xu Qilang was startled. He seemed to understand, albeit thinking that it was a bit strange and unbelievable, “Your Highness, would Her Highness be this tight-minded? Some men might be henpecked and not allowed to touch other women, but is Your Highness the same?”
“It’s not a question of whether she’s in charge or not,” Xie Xuanchen raised his eyes, looking at the not-so-bright stars in the night as he said, “It’s just that I don’t want to.”
Xu Qilang couldn’t respond for a moment. He paused before finding his voice again, “Then…what about this woman?”
Xie Xuanchen was cold and indifferent, failing to hide the disgust in his tone as he replied, “I don’t want her; if you like her then take her away.”
Xu Qilang tried to discern his expression, “Is Your Highness serious?”
“There’s nothing fake about this,” Xie Xuanchen didn’t care much and said, “She’s almost finished dancing. If you want her, you’d better hurry up.”
When Xie Xuanchen reached this point, Xu Qilang knew the Prince’s words were true and lost all interest. Xu Qilang suddenly felt curious, “Why? Of course this woman is not as beautiful as Her Highness, but she is still a well-deserved beauty. Is Your HIghness’s lack of fancy towards her due to higher standards?”
“It has nothing to do with the other party. Even if this woman was the most beautiful person, she is still another woman to me. If you switch roles and my Princess was the one who gets intimate with a man during her expedition, I will personally sever the hands of the man. So I think, if it was her, she would feel the same.”
