Since Mu Mingtang was pregnant, the winter was spent very peacefully. Xie Xuanchen ran to the palace whenever he had time and saw her belly getting progressively bigger with every passing day. He was curious but panicked a lot, “Why is it getting so big? Is this normal?”
Mu Mingtang immediately rolled her eyes at him, “Can’t you say anything better?”
Xie Xuanchen did not dare to provoke Mu Mingtang, so he coaxed her with gentle words throughout the process, “I was wrong, I shouldn’t have said nonsense. Don’t be angry, just take good care of your baby.”
Although Xie Xuanchen kept coaxing her, following her, appearing to be calm and strong, Mu Mingtang found that as time passed, he was plagued with insomnia from all the worry.
Sometimes Mu Mingtang’s legs would cramp at night, so Xie Xuanchen would be startled awake even if she moved a little.
Mu Mingtang knew that he was afraid.
Xie Xuanchen had regretted getting Mu Mingtang pregnant for a certain amount of time. He privately asked the little Taoist priest about giving birth in general. After hearing the little Taoist priest talk about the dangers of giving birth for a woman, he really didn’t want the child any longer. He was looking forward to having a kid of his own, but the premise of all this was that this child would retain both his and Mu Mingtang’s blood. If the arrival of the child would bring danger to his beloved, then he would rather not have a kid.
He simply couldn’t imagine what the world would be like if he lost Mu Mingtang. Even the mere thought of this possibility made him frightened beyond measure.
Xie Xuanchen became more and more nervous. Seeing his panic, Mu Mingtang was quite speechless.
If one were to base her situation off of Xie Xuanchen’s reaction, anyone would think that she was having trouble. However, the foetal condition had always been great.
Mu Mingtang paid attention to getting enough rest and recuperation during her pregnancy, prioritising calmness. Everyone said that she was coming along well and only Xie Xuanchen couldn’t be at ease. He thought he had concealed his fears well, but the fact remained that he had been worrying about it for two months without sleeping or eating well. When Mu Mingtang was about to give birth, he didn’t even dare to leave the house.
One early morning, at the end of the first month of the New Year, Mu Mingtang gave birth to a son. Both mother and son were announced to be safe and only then did Xie Xuanchen feel that his feet were firmly planted on the ground again. He hugged the fragile baby, practically seconds away from having a panic attack. After thinking for a long time, he named the child Xie Changan.
Xie Xuanchen’s given name was ‘Chen’, which meant the Northern star. Xie Yi had named his son after the star in hopes that his son would make great achievements and stand out. In contrast to that, Xie Xuanchen named his son Changan.
Changan(2). As long as his son lived a long life in peace, that was enough for him.
