Mu Mingtang shook his head and chuckled, “As girls, our feelings are all visible to one another. How could I not be able to figure out something as plain as this?”
The tip of Xie Xuanchen’s eyebrows moved as he heard her reply. He then stared at Mu Mingtang and asked, “Why are you speaking in such an adult-like manner when you’re younger than her?”
Startled, Mu Mingtang’s expression changed slightly, but Xie Xuanchen continued staring. When he saw her eyes become serious, a playful smile formed on his face, “You’re a girl yourself, do you have anyone that you fancy?”
Mu Mingtang couldn’t react to his question for a brief moment. She didn’t really want to continue this topic, so she said perfunctorily, “She likes you, so it ultimately depends on whether or not you intend to accept it. Why are you bringing me up instead?”
Xie Xuanchen leaned on the railing with his arm and spoke to her through the fence, “Let’s not talk about whether she really likes me. Even if she does, what does it have to do with me?”
Mu Mingtang had a vague feeling that things were going to go south, and sure enough, she heard Xie Xuanchen say, “There are so many people who adore me. After all, I am smarter, stronger than others, and not to mention faster than others. No matter what I do, I do it all with ease, so it’s no wonder I’m fancied all over the place.”
After Xie Xuanchen finished speaking, he sighed, “Having too many gifts is truly a sin.”
Mu Mingtang was disgusted and had the urge to find something to hit him, which made Xie Xuanchen laugh when he saw her expression. Realising that she was practically ‘baited’ into reacting a certain way, she punched him angrily. Unsurprisingly, Xie Xuanchen leaned back slightly and caught her fist with ease, “Why are you getting angry? I’m just telling the truth.”
Mu Mingtang nearly ended up rolling her eyes on the spot. Xie Xuanchen looked at her before he suddenly leaned in and asked, “What about you?”
Mu Mingtang’s hand was still held in his grasp. Hence, when he suddenly leaned closer to her, the distance between them was greatly shortened. Mu Mingtang was startled and subconsciously wanted to shy away, but his grip on her hand was firm, “And what about you?”
Blushing, Mu Mingtang could only play dumb, “I don’t understand what you are talking about.”
“Really? You don’t understand? Then I’ll just ask you directly then?”
“Shut up!” Mu Mingtang yelled, startled. She was afraid that Xie Xuanchen would really ask her outright, so she quickly covered his mouth. Despite his fast reaction times, Xie Xuanchen didn’t dodge at all and she managed to cover his mouth.
Mu Mingtang’s pupils dilated slightly as she felt his skin under her hand. Her entire being was tingling, feeling that there was something wrong. Why didn’t Xie Xuanchen evade it? With her slow movements, how could Xie Xuanchen not be able to dodge?
The pair of eyes that had his lower half face covered merely shone brightly, to the point where it made others uneasy.
