It was drizzling, but Mu Mingtang didn’t care to hold an umbrella. She followed her servant’s instructions while walking, but yelled out, “Xie Xuanchen!”
Xie Xuanchen was confronting someone with a cold expression, so when he suddenly heard a familiar voice behind him, he turned back in surprise.
“Why are you here?”
Mu Mingtang crossed the puddles on the ground, holding up her skirt and ran towards Xie Xuanchen. Since she ran too fast and couldn’t care to use the umbrella, her hair became damp from running in the rain.
Mu Mingtang ran to Xie Xuanchen, held his arm and looked at him earnestly, “Let’s go back.”
Apparently, she was harassed by a young man of power on the road a few days ago. Mu Mingtang didn’t want to cause trouble for her parents, so she held back and didn’t say anything. The people wouldn’t fight the rich and the rich wouldn’t fight the officials either. After all, their family was just a merchant family, so there was no way they could afford to offend any high ranking Young Masters.
Since it was merely done so verbally, Mu Mingtang endured it.
She later mentioned it to her servant unintentionally, but Xie Xuanchen had somehow gotten wind of it. Upon seeing that he hadn’t shown up for classes and after asking around did Mu Mingtang realise that he had gone in pursuit of the man.
When Mu Mingtang heard the other party’s name, her heart skipped a beat. She didn’t bother to find out how Xie Xuanchen found out about the incident and proceeded to head to where he was in order to stop him.
The powerful young man on the opposite side saw a girl coming to Xie Xuanchen’s side and laughed provocatively, “Oh, Second Young Master Xie’s reputation precedes him. And here I thought you were actually amazing, but I didn’t expect that you would bring a woman to a fight?”
He looked again and recognised Mu Mingtang, “Turns out that it was you! I was wondering why Second Master Xie was alarmed, but it seems like the little beauty has a backer behind her.”
In her past life, Mu Mingtang was well protected by her parents since she was a child and later on, she was adopted by the Jiang family. From there, she was sculpted into a regal and elegant Empress. For many years, she was used to following the rules and not getting involved in anything, which was why this was the first time she faced such a situation.
Mu Mingtang instinctively felt that it was unsafe and tugged at Xie Xuanchen’s sleeve once more, “Madam will be worried, let’s go back.”
The opposing team had called on many younger boys as ‘helpers’. Therefore, at this moment, they began to boo when they heard Mu Mingtang’s words. Someone else shouted, “You’re only a kid and you want to try and defend a girl? Even your own mother is involved now. If you’re such an obedient child to your mother, why don’t you go home and have some milk? Other people say that you’re really powerful, but the way I see it, you don’t seem like a lot.”
Mu Mingtang subconsciously held onto Xie Xuanchen’s sleeve tightly. The powerful Young Master who led the opposing side looked at Mu Mingtang and found that the little beauty was indeed interesting, especially after being wet by the rain. He raised his eyebrows and said lightly,”What’s your name? Following a child as young as he is will bring you nothing. How about you follow this older brother instead? This brother will have gold and silver be made for you, and every slave will be at your beck and call.”
