I’m a Villain! Why Are You Trying to Date Me? Chapter 74

Chapter 74: Bai Bing’er is going to confess? Two heroines busting in on a “tryst”?

“Um… Miss Bai… if you’ve got something to say, say it… just, uh, don’t come any closer…”

Lin Tian kept backing up all the way to the window. Rain pelted the glass behind him, and in front of him stood a stunning beauty, soaked through, every inch of her radiating natural, unfiltered sex appeal. She slowly walked toward him…

Everything about this atmosphere screamed danger zone.

[This woman Bai Bing’er isn’t about to go nuts too, is she?! No no no, I swear, I do not want a repeat of the Shang Chan incident!]

Lin Tian screamed internally. And just as expected, Bai Bing’er, who could hear his thoughts, froze.

Shang Chan incident? Had Shang Chan also done this? Been alone in a room with Lin Tian, just the two of them?

At the thought of “a man and a woman alone together,” Bai Bing’er’s cheeks suddenly flushed red. With her flawless, sensual beauty, it was a scene that truly belonged only in heaven.

Lin Tian bit his tongue hard, forcing himself back to reality. He used to think the phrase “blinded by beauty” was just a metaphor. But now, with Bai Bing’er standing in front of him, he realized, damn it, that was a full-on verb.

Bai Bing’er finally stopped about a meter away from him. Her enchanting phoenix-like eyes were filled with emotion and closeness. To her, Lin Tian in this moment… was her life’s anchor. She slightly parted her pale yet sparkling lips and spoke softly:

“Lin Tian, thank you for understanding me.”

Lin Tian assumed she was talking about their earlier discussion on “staying true to oneself.” He gave a casual smile, tightened the sash of his bathrobe, and replied,

“No problem. Being real isn’t a bad thing. I mean, I can’t always do it myself, but I respect that you can…”

Bai Bing’er smiled, and the whole room seemed to brighten. She took a step back and asked in a quiet voice,

“Can I… stay here for a while? It’s too cold outside…”

Yeah, it was awkward for a man and woman to be alone , especially with the thunderstorm making it feel like midnight. But she was wearing barely anything. If she went back out there, she’d probably catch a cold. Lin Tian sighed, then nodded.

“Alright, but… let’s keep some distance, yeah? Boundaries.” ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡•𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮•𝕟𝕖𝕥

Bai Bing’er obediently nodded and sat on the opposite side of the bed. Lin Tian grabbed a set of clothes.

“I’m gonna go change. Wait a sec.”

Bai Bing’er blinked her big eyes, looking curious.

[Curious about me changing clothes? Lady, what the hell are you interested in??]

Though she felt closer to Lin Tian deep down, she knew they weren’t that familiar on the surface so she didn’t push it.

She turned her gaze away as Lin Tian locked himself in the bathroom and quickly changed.

Wearing a bathrobe in front of a walking, breathing fantasy like Bai Bing’er was asking for mental chaos. Clothes helped a lot…

When he came back out, Bai Bing’er was fiddling curiously with a jade pendant with seven green dots. Lin Tian smiled and explained.

“That’s from my mom. She said the seven dots represent the ‘Seven Star Alignment’, a sign of fortune and nobility. So she made me wear it.”

He’d taken it off earlier when showering. In truth, it originally belonged to the body’s previous owner but the world had filled in the gaps, and now Lin Tian had memories of it too. He was just trying to lighten the mood since it was awkward being alone with her.

Bai Bing’er looked up at him, her eyes shimmering, and gave a small nod.

Lin Tian asked, “So… Miss Bai, why’d you come to see me? Surely not just to debate ‘staying true to yourself,’ right?”

Bai Bing’er pressed her lips together. She had planned to tell Lin Tian everything on her mind. But earlier, during that moment of internal collapse and uncertainty, Lin Tian had pulled her back from the edge… Now, she saw him as the only friend who truly understood her, the anchor in her storm. She didn’t want to tell him that she could hear his thoughts, not yet. But there was something else she had to say.

She hesitated a bit, then softly said, “Lin Tian… I came to explain something. What Shang Chan said, none of it is true. Yes, back then, I did have Bingyan Corporation target Xinghai because of Jiang Yifeng, but that was just business. I never had anything with Jiang Yifeng.”

She paused, then continued.

“You probably understand my personality. Maybe at one point I was a little interested in Jiang Yifeng, but that was it. After we failed to take down the Zhao family, I cut ties with him completely. Please, Lin Tian. Believe me.”

Bai Bing’er’s eyes were filled with regret and hope. She hoped Lin Tian would believe her and not be swayed by Shang Chan’s words. She regretted ever getting involved with Jiang Yifeng at all. But… what she didn’t realize was that Lin Tian didn’t give a damn.

If he hadn’t been a transmigrator, he probably would’ve met Bai Bing’er like… twice? Maybe? She had just assumed he’d care, because she’d started caring about him.

“Miss Bai, why are you explaining all this to me? Whether you and Jiang Yifeng had something… it’s not any of my business, is it? Does it matter if I believe you?”

He meant it as a joke; he genuinely wasn’t emotionally invested.

But Bai Bing’er froze.

Right… why would it matter to him?

Because in her heart, Lin Tian had become someone important.

“Is… this what liking someone feels like?” she asked herself.

She didn’t know the answer. She wasn’t here for some grand confession, just to clear the air. She didn’t want anything unresolved between them. So she looked Lin Tian in the eye, calm and sincere.

A woman with a 99/100 in looks, body, and aura, looking at you with such seriousness, saying your opinion of me matters. That hits hard, no matter who you are.

He felt his heart skip a beat. And then he heard her voice again, soft, clear, and captivating:

For a second, he blanked out.

A doorbell. From heaven?

“Who is it?” Lin Tian called, startled.

“Lin Tian! It’s me, Shang Chan.”

Inside the room, Lin Tian stiffened. From the frying pan… into the fire.
