Therefore, in order to prove that Altoria was the true child of prophecy, the fairies in the village demanded her to kill Ecter.
Altoria did not act on it, and the one who exposed her, was none other than the fairy who had grown up with Altoria since childhood, self-proclaimed as her friend, her childhood companion.
"Are such fairies even worth saving?"
Reiger was too lazy to even scoff, merely commenting,
"Sorry, I don’t think so."
At the fall of his words, Altoria’s only response, apart from silence, was more silence.
Truth be told, Altoria could understand Reiger’s feelings.
If it were anyone else, being treated this way by the fairies yet still expected to save them, their country, it would be utterly ridiculous.
However... Altoria herself didn’t feel much about it at all.
Because she possessed a pair of eyes that could see through lies.
Because she knew that the people of the village never had any good intentions toward her.
Therefore, even being mistreated to such an extent, Altoria actually didn’t have much of an emotional fluctuation, for she had long known things would turn out this way.
To sum it up, if she had already prepared herself mentally, how could there be any room for other emotions?
"That’s true as well."
Altoria couldn’t help but voice her inner thoughts aloud.
"Honestly, I don’t really feel motivated to save Fairy Country either."
That’s right, Altoria lacked the drive to save Fairy Country.
She knew her mission was to save this nation.
She knew she was here to redeem the fairies.
But knowing did not translate into emotion, and without any fond memories in this nation, she truly felt no urge to do anything for the fairies of this place.
Up to now, she just lived in a daze to this age, because the people in the village all hoped she was the child of prophecy, and in order not to be consumed by the malice in those fairies’ hearts, she had no choice but to cooperate with them, diligently doing the things a child of prophecy would do.
"In the end, you’re actually lost, aren’t you?" Reiger said indifferently to Altoria, "Lost about whether you should embark on a pilgrimage after leaving the village, and whether you should strive to save Fairy Country."
These words hit Altoria right in the heart.
"...What about you?" Altoria disguised her emotions with a smile and responded, "You’re so powerful, don’t you want to do something for the humans in Fairy Country?"
In Altoria’s eyes, Reiger’s strength was much greater than that of most fairies.
Though she had not seen Reiger in a real battle, just the fact that he could fly through the sky at will and seemingly teleport hither and thither was evidence enough that he was more formidable than most fairies.
Even if the fairies of the Wind Clan were not as strong as those of the Tusk Clan, the ease with which Reiger trapped them showed his strength was far above that of an ordinary fairy.
Such a man, even if he were to raise a rebellion against the queen for the sake of the human race’s treatment, Altoria found nothing surprising in it at all.
If he really had such thoughts, she, the prophesied child who defeated the queen, would probably be a very useful weapon to him, wouldn’t she?
As Altoria was thinking this, a hand moved with untraceable speed, swiftly extending in front of her.
The next second, a headbutt exploded on Altoria’s forehead.
Altoria, clutching her forehead, retreated, crying out in pain.
"What, what are you doing!?"
Altoria glared at Reiger, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
"Shouldn’t that be my question to you?" Reiger casually withdrew his hand and said, "Though I don’t have fairy eyes that can see through lies like you do, I can guess that you were just thinking something very impolite."
"I, I was just thinking to myself!" Altoria complained, "I didn’t say anything, was there a need to hit my forehead?"
"I’m already being nice by not smacking your behind."
Reiger glanced over Altoria’s shoulder, scaring the girl into jumping away and instinctively covering her rear.
With that, Reiger smiled wordlessly and turned his back to Altoria.
"As for what to do, I haven’t decided yet since I’m new here."
"I also can’t say for sure that I won’t fight that queen in the future."
"But even if I do go to war with her, I won’t use a fledgling fairy like you for my plans."
Saying this, Reiger began to walk away.
"If it comes to a fight, I’ll just storm the castle of Camelot and take a few rounds with that queen."
"Honestly, I am quite looking forward to it."
"Whether it’s that queen or her knights who serve her, they must be pretty strong, right?"
At this point, a hint of eagerness finally emerged from Reiger.
Knowing these were Reiger’s true thoughts, Altoria could see that he was indeed looking forward to it, even excited.
Altoria mumbled disparagingly, quickly following Reiger, yet for some reason, she felt a burst of relief in her heart.
At the very least, none of the words spoken by this man were false.
Compared to all the people she had met so far, compared to all the malice and ugly thoughts she had felt up to this point, the person in front of her was so genuine, so candid.
And Altoria found herself smiling unconsciously.
Suddenly, Reiger stopped again.
Altoria quickly braked, complaining.
Reiger, however, was staring intently at a direction, and after a moment, he opened his mouth.
"Looks like we have trouble."
