Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth Chapter 229

Cabin Posia wanted to reconcile, but it wasn't necessarily possible, because he had no money.

But when the Vice Principal Posia wanted to reconcile, Cabin Posia had no ability to object.

If a direct shot at goal was possible, there was no need to dribble past the opponent.

After Luke got up, he prepared to make breakfast.

Daisy was in a hurry to get to work, drank a cup of hot coffee, and rushed out the door.

Luke couldn't be bothered to cook just for himself.

He brewed a pot of Dragon Well tea in the yard, planning his schedule for the day.

It was already his fourth day off, and he was starting to let himself go a bit.

Being able to take leave was a skill in itself; others might want to take leave, but Susan wouldn't necessarily agree to it.

Of course, Luke hadn't been idle either. His schedule for these four days was packed, and today was no exception.

Luke had a deluxe stuffed pancake and a cup of soy milk on the community square, then drove straight to Hall Bomos' gym.

His purpose for coming here was to learn boxing and enhance his practical skills.

As a police officer in Los Angeles, marksmanship was essential, but there were some special circumstances where one couldn't use a gun, and could only rely on combat skills to subdue a suspect.

For example, if the suspect suddenly attacked when they were less than three meters apart, by the time one drew their gun, the only option would be to take a beating. If the opponent was a skilled boxer, a punch to the temple could easily result in a knockout.

Another common scenario was when a suspect had no weapon, posed no threat to the police, and turned to run away.

In such cases, the police couldn't shoot the fleeing suspect in the back—there would be too much trouble afterward.

In those situations, they typically chased the suspect to perform an arrest.

It also required reliance on combat skills to subdue the individual.

Luke entered Hall Bomos' gym, his first visit, and the gym owner was Hall Bomos.

He was once a professional boxer and had even won a WBA championship.

However, his peak period was short, and he retired early due to injury.

Luke didn't know him personally but started researching boxing-related information after drawing a "boxing card," and saw his tutorial videos on TikTok, learning that he had opened a gym here.

One-on-one private training was 100 US dollars per hour.

Although not cheap, after all, the man was a boxing champion, Luke felt it was worth it.

Luke entered the boxing arena and heard the 'bang bang' sounds of boxing.

A tall white man was practicing his punches, powerful and fast.

Upon seeing Luke, the man stopped, "Want to give it a try?"

Luke replied with a smile, "Coach Hall, I'm Luke, I contacted you yesterday."

Hall was slightly taller than Luke, probably not quite 1.9 meters, but he was well-built, much bulkier than Luke, clearly still training even though he'd retired.

"Have you trained in boxing before?"

"I know some basics."

Hall handed Luke a pair of red gloves, "Put these on, let's practise."

Getting a chance to spar with a former world boxing champion was rare, and Luke was quite eager to try.

The two stepped onto the ring, and Hall waved his right hand, "You attack, I'll defend. I want to test your level first."

Luke was relatively skilled, but that was compared to ordinary people. Against a boxing champion, he was a bit timid.

But by then, it was too late to back down.

Luke gave it his best, launching an attack.

Jab, hook, Swing Fist...

With coordinated footwork, Luke attacked, but Hall blocked or avoided each move.

Moreover, Hall's rhythm was steady, always ready to counter.

Luke had no doubt—if Hall decided to retaliate, he would undoubtedly be hit, maybe even knocked down.

After some time, Hall seemed to want a deeper understanding of Luke's level, "Put on the protective gear; let's have a match."

"Not at all, I'd be glad to." Luke smiled, geared up, moved around to warm up his limbs, and feet.

"Come on, attack with all your might. I'll counter, but I'll hold back a bit."

"OK." Luke moved around, circling Hall, hesitating to attack, seemingly looking for an opening.

Hall urged, "Hey, I'm charging by the hour, don't waste your time."

Luke abandoned the search for an opening, as he couldn't find one and decided to use his best attacking routine—a feint with the left, bending his right arm, aiming a standard right Swing Fist at the opponent's left cheek.

Hall moved smoothly, his body slipping back, easily dodging, "Your power is good, but the speed is slow, the move is too broad, and the punch too telegraphed.

It's like telling the enemy, I'm aiming for your left cheek.

Luke adjusted his stance and launched a straight punch at Hall.

"Bang!" Hall simply blocked it with his glove.

"Still not fast enough, try again."

Luke threw another straight punch.

Hall sidestepped and then landed a hook on Luke's right cheek.

Luke staggered back several steps, shaky, his cheek throbbing painfully, his head somewhat dizzy.

And this was with protective gear—if he hadn't been wearing protection, that punch would have been disastrous.

The gap between an ordinary person and a top professional boxer was enormous.

Hall said indifferently, "Your level is about that of an average amateur boxer, your basics aren't bad, and your reactions are acceptable, but that's about it.

What's your learning goal?"

"Reaching the level of a professional boxer is sufficient." Luke wasn't greedy; he had no aspirations of becoming a boxing champion.
