Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth Chapter 717

Luke dragged Anise Snow to the side of the car.

Port hopped out of the passenger's side, drew his handgun, and watched guardedly, "How is she?"

Luke pulled back Anise Snow's shirt to reveal a black bulletproof vest, patted her cheeks, "How do you feel?"

"My chest hurts... It's a bit hard to breathe," Anise Snow's face showed a look of terror, she said weakly.

Luke took out his phone and dialed 911 for backup and an ambulance.

Port hid behind the car, looking around, "No shots were heard; it must be a long-range sniper. Can't find any trace of the shooter."

It was a good thing it was a long-range sniper; if it had been a close-range shooting, even if Anise Snow had been wearing a bulletproof vest, she might still have been killed—the power of large-caliber bullets is much greater than that of normal handguns.

Luke said, "It's definitely that bastard trying to silence her for good, we need to figure out his location."

Port asked, "Got any good ideas?"

"No, popping our heads out now might get them blown off." Luke glanced at the woman lying on the ground; as long as she was alive, there was still a chance to catch the shooter.

Of course, there was also the possibility that the shooter had already fled after the successful hit.

But, no one would stupidly gamble with their own life.

Minutes later, police patrol cars arrived at the scene.

Only then did Luke and Port dare to come out from behind the car, observing their surroundings and looking for the shooter's firing position.

Luke walked to where Anise Snow was shot and began to deduce the shooter's location based on the bullet's trajectory.

There was a five-story building to the southeast, about five or six hundred meters away from the shooting spot, Luke thought that place was suitable for an ambush, "Port, take care of Anise Snow. I'll take some officers to catch the shooter."

"Should I go with you?"

"Ensuring Anise Snow's safety is more important."

Luke called four patrol officers and ran toward the southeast corner building.

Port asked Anise Snow, "How did the shooter find you?"

Anise Snow's mouth was open wide as she breathed heavily, "My chest hurts... I feel like I can't breathe... Save me..."

"Relax, the ambulance is on its way, you'll be okay." Seeing that she was in bad condition, Port refrained from asking further.

Soon after, the ambulance arrived, and the paramedics lifted Anise Snow into the vehicle; Port followed in the ambulance to protect her.

Half an hour later, the deputy squad arrived at the scene.

Although the deputy was older, he had vast experience in case handling. In Luke's absence, he could take charge.

Luke had been in contact with Luke and the deputy squad and had learned about the attack on Anise Snow by the shooter.

But what's done was done; by the time he would get there, it would be too late.

Furthermore, with the deputy squad's experience in crime scene investigation, Luke was assured.

He had also learned about Anise Snow's condition from Port. Anise Snow was not in a life-threatening state, but she was currently having breathing difficulties and could not yet give a statement or assist with a criminal sketch.

There was no point for Luke to rush over, better to proceed with the investigation as planned.

Luke and Jackson drove to the east side of Melton Street, a street with several car dealerships selling various used cars.

The two victims owned a dealership mainly selling sedans, named Salipo Auto Dealership.

Directly opposite Salipo was Collins Auto Dealership, the purpose of Luke's and Jackson's visit. According to victim Casdi Torres, Collins Auto Dealership specialized in used sedans as well and had always been in competition with their dealership.

Luke stepped out of the car and surveyed both dealerships. Their scale was similar, and everything from marketing slogans to services and prices seemed to be in direct competition.

Luke and Jackson then walked into Collins Auto Dealership.

A curvaceous Latin woman approached them, her face beaming with a warm smile, "Gentlemen, what kind of car are you interested in? I can show you around, and you can test drive if you'd like."

Luke stared at the curvaceous Latin woman, feeling as if she was casting flirtatious glances at him or hinting at something.

Jackson frowned and flashed his badge, "Los Angeles Police, we're looking for Norbert Collins."

The curvaceous Latin woman's expression shifted slightly, "Is there a problem?"

Jackson countered, "Are you Norbert Collins?"

The curvaceous Latin woman returned with a question, "Are you gay?"

"What?" Jackson's face drooped as he said coldly, "Are you out of your mind?"

"No man could be so indifferent to me." The curvaceous Latin woman pointed to Luke, " gentleman, he keeps smiling and looking at me with kind eyes."

As she spoke, the curvaceous woman also smiled and winked at Luke.

Jackson said helplessly, "Ma'am, we're here to see Norbert Collins. Is he here?"

"Just so you know, it's 'Miss,'" the curvaceous Latin woman corrected before turning and shouting, "Boss, there are two Los Angeles police officers looking for you."

After a while, a white man in his forties walked over from a nearby garage, wiping his oil-stained hands with a rag, "Whoa, our dealership's reputation has reached the Los Angeles Police Department? I'm flattered.

What kind of car are you officers looking for? I can give you the highest discount, and all you need to do is spread the word for me."
