Mage Manual Chapter 779

Chapter 779: Chapter 607: The Witch’s Insight_2

Ash was feeling downcast, sighing softly, “What exactly should I use to repay your feelings?”

“What about the Sword Maiden?” Diya said, “She’s not like me, prioritizing your feelings first. In her heart, her own feelings are just as important as yours.”

“I don’t know,” Ash murmured, “but if she can’t accept me no matter what, then I’m ready to make a clean break with her. We’ll become teammates who are most familiar yet strangers—”

The moment Ash drew his sword, Diya had activated the Miracle “Empress’s Gaze,” and threads burst out from Ash’s body, each thread accompanied by a force enough to pierce through the Holy Domain Comet’s Rapid Stream, and in an instant reduced Ash to bubbles.

“Ash could never give up the Sword Maiden,” Diya said softly, “because that would hurt the Sword Maiden the most.”

The Witch composed her emotions and didn’t linger any longer, opening the door to explore other areas. Soon after she pushed open a door, she saw the ‘Sword Maiden’ waiting inside.

The ‘Sword Maiden’ silently summoned the “Ice Crystal Slippers,” and Diya also called forth the “Night Comet.”

But they both knew that this act was not enough to trust each other.

“Sword Maiden, before we part ways,” Diya asked, “have you made up your mind?”

The ‘Sword Maiden’ nodded slightly, “I had intended to lay it all out tonight, force the Observer to make a choice, or rather, to choose me and forsake you.”

“It’s just that I didn’t expect he had similar plans,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said with her hand on the sword hilt, her face sour, “and even less so, that he didn’t choose me.”

“But he also didn’t forsake you.”

“But how is that different from forsaking me?” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said with a bitter smile, “I can’t play those jealous and ambiguous games with you anymore… If it continues, I will eventually harbor resentment towards both of you—the actively intervening you and the Observer who can’t reject you.”

“I don’t want the rest of my life to be soaked in a vortex of resentment, or to sacrifice everything in revenge against you both.” The ‘Sword Maiden’ murmured, “I read a saying once, ‘Anything that hurts you is something you need to let go of.'”

Diya was stunned, “Sword Maiden, you mean to say…”

“You and your damned lover can lock yourselves together, I won’t bother you again,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said coldly, “Even without love, I am still a Holy Sanctuary Mage. Without the Observer, can I not find someone who loves me?”

This was the best outcome Diya could imagine.

The Sword Maiden would withdraw, and she would have Ash to herself—at least temporarily in the Void Realm. Once Ash returned to the Gospel, they could move towards a happy conclusion.

And it was very much in keeping with the Sword Maiden’s character, who was inherently jealous and decisive. Back on the Time Continent, she had done everything she could to speak ill of the Observer in front of Diya, fearing that Diya might fancy the Observer even slightly, all to have the Observer to herself.

Now that she knew she couldn’t obtain the unique love she desired, it was natural for her to give up. Besides, she was accomplished and renowned in her own domain, and as a young Female Sanctuary, wouldn’t she still have admirers?

As the Comet bombarded wildly, Diya withdrew her hand, stepping past the ‘Sword Maiden’ who dissipated into bubbles.

“The Sword Maiden would never give up on the Observer,” she whispered, “nor would she surrender to me.”

After slaying two more dubious ‘Ashes’, Diya pushed open a door and saw a ‘Sword Maiden’ sitting and resting.

Without waiting for Diya to take initiative, she said, “Whether you’re real or fake, come and pretend to be the Witch and simulate her reaction.”

Diya blinked, then nodded immediately, “Okay, what would you like to discuss?”

“Just now I killed a few ‘Observers’ and ‘Witches’ and calmed down, thinking again about the relationship among us,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said, “Since the Observer can’t decide, let’s make the decision ourselves.”

“What do you want to do?”

“First, we need to realize something,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ looked at Diya, “We’ve actually lost the entitlement to like others.”

“Unless we’re willing to leave the team, our only choices are to either love the Observer or stay single. Not to mention the team-building in the Void Realm, simply the Secret Poisons dictate that we must stick together and not establish close relationships with others.”

“The Observer is the only exception. Because he is the cornerstone and the founder of the team, he can have many intimate partners without affecting the team’s safety. Or rather, even if he wanted to do so, we couldn’t stop him.”

“But it’s different for us operators. If you or Weiser were to have lovers unless you hold an indispensable position within the team, I would immediately request the Observer to kick you out—even if you swore through a Contract that you won’t betray. The power of love is as fearsome as a Miracle.”

“I can’t get complete love from the Observer, I misjudged this time,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said to Diya, “But at least I can gain more potent power.”

“Witch, let’s serve him together,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ said, “But as I say that, we can’t let him presume too much and need to find a way to restrict his relationships. It’s fine if others like him, like Weiser or future new operatives, but as long as it ensures that you and I hold the most important places in his heart.”

“But I have to be the one who gets the biggest share of love,” the ‘Sword Maiden’ rested her chin on her hand, casting a sideways glance at Diya, “You can only be second, Witch. Are you willing?”

Diya blinked her eyes.

That was actually her ideal scenario.

Since the Sword Maiden won’t withdraw and Ash won’t give up, then let’s all live together.

Diya, though somewhat concerned, had already made up her mind to share—after all, it wasn’t just her among the Witch sisters who liked Ash.

Once Diya separated the White Queen, Black Butler, and Red Death Cultist, at minimum Ash would have four partners. Even if they could be considered as one entity, if the Sword Maiden were to be added, it would only make five, and Diya didn’t feel much resistance to that in her heart.

At least not for the moment.

More importantly, this plan was the best for Ash; he wouldn’t be sad, and he wouldn’t have to give up.

Ash’s happiness was of utmost importance.

Just as Ash didn’t want to hurt the Witch’s heart, how could Diya bear to see Ash upset?

And the ‘Sword Maiden’ was logical and deliberate. The points she raised were ones Diya herself hadn’t thought of. Following the ‘Sword Maiden’s’ vain character, she indeed would turn to pursue power, choosing the option with the highest cost-benefit ratio.

Diya retracted her threads, not even glancing at the ‘Sword Maiden’ blasted into foam by the Comet, and strode out of the laboratory, pushing open the door.

“The Sword Maiden isn’t someone who makes rational decisions based on emotions,” the Witch said, “Stop insulting her.”
