"Are you going to take a cab home later?" Lu Wanwan had a bad feeling.
Sure enough, Gu Annan just turned his head to look at her and said nothing.
After entering the community gate and walking further in, she kept thinking that they might end up staying in a hotel shortly.
If that was the case, she’d choose to sleep with her daughter.
Just as she had come up with reasons for sleeping with her daughter, she heard Little Momo’s voice, "So there’s no power outage inside! Mommy, where we live isn’t affected by the blackout!"
Lu Wanwan looked up to see the spotty lights on the building.
The man standing by had a deep and inscrutable gaze, "Let’s go upstairs then."
"Let’s go, Uncle Gu!" Little Youyou led him cheerfully inside, asking as they went, "Uncle Gu, do we live on the third floor?"
"Mommy, aren’t you coming?" Little Momo said with a smile.
Lu Wanwan looked down at him with a headache, although a power outage was beyond human control, why did she feel like their words were all about leading a wolf into her home?
"It’s nothing, Mommy’s just tired and resting a bit. Let’s go upstairs!"
Exiting the elevator, Lu Wanwan took out her keys and hesitated as she glanced at Gu Annan.
Little Youyou, warm and hospitable, invited, "Uncle Gu, you really went out of your way for us today, would you like to come in for a glass of water?"
The keys in Lu Wanwan’s hand almost dropped.
If it weren’t for the fact that the blackout was accidental, she would really suspect they were all in cahoots.
How could their questions and answers be so in sync?
"Come on in." As she opened the door, she cast a resigned glance at Gu Annan, "A drink? Juice? Mineral water?"
"Anything’s fine." He spoke unpretentiously and strode in.
"Help yourself from the fridge." She was done being polite with him.
Since there wasn’t a power outage, there was naturally no need to stay elsewhere.
Taking advantage of Gu Annan’s trip to the restroom, Lu Wanwan squatted down with her two treasures, and asked reluctantly, "Aren’t you guys worried at all that he might be a bad guy?"
"Mommy," Little Youyou looked at her in confusion, "didn’t you say the car belonged to Uncle Gu and the driver was just driving for him? Then he wouldn’t rob us, right?"
Lu Wanwan sternly instructed, "Our house doesn’t only have wealth that can be robbed."
As she was speaking, the sound of running water suddenly came from the restroom.
Lu Wanwan hurried into the restroom and saw Gu Annan at the washbasin, his shirt soaked and his face grim.
The flow from her washbasin was rather strong; if turned to maximum, the water would splash everywhere.
"Couldn’t you have just turned it down?"
He fell silent for a moment then looked down at his shirt, "Do you have clothes I could change into?"
"Of course not, can you wear Momo’s clothes?" she replied without hesitation.
Gu Annan’s gaze slid over her face and he calmly wiped his hands with some tissue, "Then I’ll have to trouble you for the night."
Huh? What do you mean, ’for the night’?
She watched as Gu Annan walked out, then heard his unruffled voice, "There was a small incident just now, and your mommy, to thank me, has offered to let me stay here for the night."
Hey, when did she say that?
"But Uncle..." Little Youyou suddenly hesitated, counting on his fingers, "My home is really small, we only have two rooms."
"It’s fine, isn’t there a sofa?" Gu Annan said leisurely.
After Little Momo and Little Youyou went to bed, Lu Wanwan tiptoed out from the room with a pillow and a bed sheet, handing them to Gu Annan.
"The sofa is quite small," he commented with narrowed eyes, glancing over it briefly.
