Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride Chapter 239

Titus Zane chuckled, unsure of how to follow up Evander Lancaster’s remark, and amidst the awkwardness, Nathan Moore had already stood up, his black trousers and white shirt accentuating his figure, with the top two buttons undone, exposing a small portion of his fair, firm chest.

The cuffs of his shirt were rolled up to his forearms, holding a glass of red wine in his hand, he kicked Evander Lancaster’s leg disdainfully and said, "You always talk too much."

"Sister-in-law, look, my second brother is bullying me." Evander Lancaster feigned aggrievement, rubbing his buttocks, although Nathan Moore had kicked his shin.

At that moment, other than smiling Titus Zane, who didn’t know how to react and stood there, he could think of no other word but ’awkward’ to describe his feelings.

"You two know each other?" Beatrice Hargrave’s eyes widened with curiosity.

Worried that Evander Lancaster would let slip something startling, Titus Zane hastily spoke first, and with an indifferent remark, he both explained and distanced their relationship.

"Wow, what a coincidence, I’m also from T City." Beatrice Hargrave said excitedly, to which Titus Zane skillfully replied, "I know."

Those three water-tight words somehow led to a flight of fancy.

Beatrice Hargrave paused for a moment, not continuing the topic, but was instead dragged by Nathan Moore’s ardent gaze alongside Titus Zane to sit down on a sofa in the corner of the private room.

"Beautiful sister, you finally arrived. Do you know how difficult it is to deal with these three men? It’s been so arduous for me to handle them all by myself."

Titus Zane smiled, suddenly feeling that the girl in front of him had become a stranger. Once upon a time, she could handle all three men by herself with her sharp tongue; neither Felix Shaw nor Evander Lancaster were her match.

And yet now, she claimed it was tormenting.

Dragged away by Beatrice Hargrave, Nathan Moore could only sit back down awkwardly. The karaoke sound system was on in the room, and a song’s instrumental version was playing on the large screen.

Titus Zane and Beatrice Hargrave sat in the corner, listening to her non-stop chatter about how exhausting running errands was, how her daily schedule was fully packed, and that she could rarely get out to have fun, yet still had to entertain on behalf of her father.

Titus Zane suddenly became curious, wasn’t Sophie Foster supposed to be an orphan with no parents? How did a father suddenly appear?

So he politely asked, "What business does your father do?"

Upon mentioning her father, Beatrice Hargrave sighed, her face showing displeasure, "My father owns an entertainment company, he’s collaborated with Uncle Chu over there many times. He forced me into competitions too, said it would improve exposure and packaging."

Titus Zane was somewhat puzzled; the girl in front of him was clearly Sophie Foster, yet her background and experiences didn’t match at all?

The three men on the other side were sipping wine and chatting in a desultory manner, with Nathan Moore casting occasional surreptitious glances this way, obviously distracted even while talking.

As brothers, how could Evander Lancaster not see through his thoughts? He brought over a bottle of wine and two glasses.

He didn’t avoid sitting down right beside the two women, placing the bottle and glasses on the low table, "Come on, sister-in-law, let’s have a drink together."

Titus Zane’s lips curved into a smile, "Thanks, but perhaps it’s time for a change in how you address me." He had no more interaction with Nathan Moore, and continuing with this address would only lead to criticism from others.

"Ah, look at my stupid mouth!" Evander Lancaster slapped himself on the mouth, "I’ve gotten used to it, it will be quite hard to change all at once."

"Even if it’s hard, you need to change it." Titus Zane’s full lips maintained a curve, his words firm in his resolve.

"Right, right, you’re absolutely correct." Evander Lancaster poured two glasses of wine, handing one to Titus Zane and keeping one for himself.

"Men like my second brother who don’t know how to cherish should end up alone for life!"
