Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride Chapter 369

Seeing his father in the living room as well, Max Locke quickened his pace, a look of tension on his face.

"Dad, someone has been secretly investigating that incident from years ago."

Even in moments of panic, the man in full military dress did not show the irritation common among ordinary people.

Old Master Locke glanced at his daughter-in-law beside him, placing a hand on his lower abdomen, "Emma, go make me a bowl of stomach-warming soup, my stomach has been uncomfortable lately."

In truth, it wasn’t a case of stomach discomfort, but rather a clear intent to send someone away.

"Okay," Emma Reynolds responded, standing up, tactfully avoiding further discussion.

Every family has their own secrets, especially those like theirs, a family that had shone brightly for half a century. Those at the top, who had not climbed over the rattling bones?

As the daughter-in-law disappeared into the kitchen, Old Master Locke immediately took on a serious look, his tiger-like eyes intensely round, and asked in a lower voice.

"Do you know who is secretly investigating?"

"It seems to be a foreigner." Max Locke also deliberately lowered his voice. Even at home, some matters become more dangerous the more people know of them.

Especially his good-for-nothing son, who was sent into the military, but somehow obtained a fake medical report – kidney failure – and then conveniently spilled water onto the bed...

His old subordinates were in the military, so there wasn’t much follow-up investigation, and that good-for-nothing was sent back home.

Max Locke worried that if his good-for-nothing son heard about this and started bragging about past events as his own accomplishments, it would be far more than a simple matter of stripping one’s rank and title.

If it alerted higher authorities, it’s likely not just the Locke Family, but also families linked to the Lockes would be troubled.

"Do you know who he is?" Old Master Locke asked with a sinister look in his round tiger eyes.

"What we’ve found so far, it’s the Crown Prince of E country."

This was the most troublesome part. If it were an ordinary person secretly investigating, he would use some means to make him disappear for good.

But the other party is of noble identity, the Crown Prince of E country. If he disappeared without a trace in their country, it could lead to hostility between the two nations.

"I see..." Old Master Locke mused to himself, his tiger eyes narrowing as if thinking of a strategy. Suddenly, those tiger eyes widened, a flash of sternness passing before narrowing again.

"Find someone to teach him a lesson. Don’t go too far, but also not too light – otherwise, he won’t understand how extensive the Locke Family’s power really is!"

"Dad, that’s the Crown Prince of E country. If something happens to him here, it might not be easy to explain." Max Locke reminded, his expression serious. The Crown Prince was not like ordinary people; if after being taught a lesson he held a grudge and pulled their nation into the matter, it could be difficult to resolve.

"Hmph!" Old Master Locke scoffed, "Be it Crown Prince or not, when I was fighting for this country, he probably wasn’t even a twinkle in his father’s eye."

With that statement, Old Master Locke’s pride was evident; proud of his achievements, he seldom took others seriously.

Having said this, he turned to look at his son Max Locke, "You don’t need to get involved in this matter. I’ll just have one of my subordinates handle it. That way, if there’s an investigation later, you’ll have plausible deniability."

"Yes." Max Locke nodded in agreement.

Reclining in his seat, Felix Shaw had no idea how many cigarettes he’d smoked. As he lowered the car window, a clear stream of smoke distinctly wafted outside.

Glancing at his watch, he saw that it was already the end of the workday; that woman would probably be down soon.

After lowering all the windows and waving away the smoke with his hand to clear out the car, he raised the glass—it was imperative not to let that woman discover him.
