"Still claiming you’re not embarrassing enough, why don’t you look at yourself in the mirror now and see what you’ve become?" Oliver Shaw chastised displeased, as Melody Zachary was about to retort, her son put his arm around her shoulders, gave her a gentle pat, and said, "Mom, Mia will be here soon, you don’t want our future daughter-in-law to think it’s a joke, do you?"
Felix Shaw didn’t think his mother’s behavior was wise; by doing this, she was only pushing his father further away. Even though he had already decided to drive that mother and daughter away, if his father grew cold towards his mother, he would still seek other women even after getting rid of them.
Hearing that his future daughter-in-law was coming over, Melody Zachary stopped making a scene and sat back down on the sofa. Felix put the proposal he was holding onto his desk and then turned back to his own office.
Leaning back in his executive chair, he made a phone call to Mia Foster; with the situation as it was, there were no pleasantries in mind. As soon as the call connected, he went straight to the point, "Mia, I need a favor..."
Staying in her husband’s office was dull for Melody Zachary; not only was there no conversation between them, but Oliver had a cold expression all morning.
Just as Mia Foster came over and even invited her to go shopping at the mall, Melody Zachary took the opportunity to grab her purse and left with her.
Having heard a rough account of the situation over the phone, Mia Foster really couldn’t understand her future mother-in-law’s actions. What’s the point of clinging to the shell of a relationship if a man’s heart wasn’t with you in the first place?

After browsing the mall with Melody Zachary and having lunch together, Mia sent her home before driving back to the company. On her way, she called Felix Shaw, told him she had sent his future mother-in-law home, and asked if he wanted to join her to negotiate with Vanessa Armstrong. Felix refused, not wanting to trouble others with his family affairs.
In the afternoon, Felix Shaw left the company early and parked his car in the closest spot to the entrance of Hu’an International Primary School. He chose this spot for its convenience, so his child could easily see him upon leaving the school.
With over an hour left until school ended, the half-street in front of the school gate was already filled with vehicles lined up to pick up their children.
At 3:40 pm, the crisp ring of the school bell echoed, and the students filed out of the teaching buildings, led by their teachers, facing a crowd of parents that was packed tight around the school entrance. Felix took a deep drag of his cigarette, pushed open the door of the driver’s seat, and threw the stub to the ground, crushing it underfoot before slamming the car door and walking over.
Approaching Vanessa Armstrong and her daughter, he stood with his hands in his trouser pockets, projecting a casual demeanor, yet his handsome face was clouded with angst. "We need to talk."
Vanessa Armstrong was listening to her daughter recount interesting events from class that day when she was suddenly blocked. Looking up and seeing Felix Shaw, she was visibly taken aback.
At a milk tea shop near the school, Felix Shaw and Vanessa Armstrong sat opposite each other, with Seraphina leaning against her mother, looking timidly at Felix.
It was this uncle who had stopped her dad yesterday and wouldn’t let her and mom leave...
"Tell me, how much money will it take for you to leave?" Felix Shaw got straight to the point, his fingers pinching a coffee cup on the table, his expression serious.
"I don’t lack money." Vanessa Armstrong held her daughter close, stating a fact, unyielding as she faced Felix Shaw.
At first, she was worried about being discovered by Oliver Shaw’s family; after all, she was a mistress who shouldn’t be seen. But now... she was looking forward to the day they would discover the existence of her and her daughter.
