"Sit down," Melody Zachary was just getting up when Oliver Shaw snapped her back, inserting the steel spoon into the ice cream and saying unhappily, "You’re so grown up and still can’t take care of yourself? When I was his age, I was already a father."
Oliver Shaw spoke naturally, but Melody Zachary lowered her eyes. She married Oliver right after graduating from university, and the year after their marriage, they had Felix... Everything was as vivid as yesterday, yet seemed as distant as a lifetime ago.

Vanessa Armstrong was kneeling in front of the toilet, having vomited up all the food she ate in the evening and was still dry heaving, her ponytail high and now disheveled over her shoulders.
"How did it get so bad? What did you eat tonight?" Oliver Shaw came over and crouched down, gently patting Vanessa’s back.
