Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again Chapter 34

"Stop those two people in front, don’t let them run!" A sudden shout broke the calm of this floor.

With footsteps chasing after them relentlessly, Ann Vaughn directly pulled Susie Sommers into the escape route, not daring to stop for a moment as they ran downstairs, leaving those people behind.

Finally out of the hospital, they ran into a secluded alleyway, where they stopped to catch their breath.

"My God, that almost scared me to death." Susie Sommers leaned on her knees, panting heavily with a puzzled expression, "I mean, why are we running? Do those people really dare to arrest you, the CEO’s wife?" Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs ɴovᴇl_Firᴇ.ɴet

"This thing, Cyrus Hawthorne can’t find out." Ann Vaughn tried to steady her breathing, gently patting her lower abdomen as if to soothe it, then looked at the item in her palm and smiled faintly, "Good thing we got the stuff."

There was also an unexpected surprise.

Susie didn’t quite understand but didn’t ask further, patting her shoulder, "What do you plan to do? This matter is basically a foregone conclusion, with public opinion siding with the victim."

"But, no matter what you want to do, feel free to ask if you need my help."

"Susie." Ann Vaughn hugged her, touched, "Don’t worry, I won’t let myself get dragged into this."

Cyrus Hawthorne also wouldn’t allow her to interfere in the affairs of the Hawthorne Family and Hawthorne Corp., this she knew better than anyone.

After parting ways with Susie, Ann Vaughn returned to the small clinic, took out the samples of pus and blood she had collected from the patient’s wounds in the hospital room, and began to test them.

Besides that, she also squeezed a little of the supposedly problematic ointment stashed under the patient’s pillow.

After what felt like ages, Ann Vaughn finally printed out the test results, including a medical evaluation she had reached after examining the patient.

To make this evidence thoroughly detailed, she also added numerous annotations.

It was enough to prove that the person was poisoned, with a deep concentration of toxic substances, and unless the entire tube of ointment was used on the wound, the small amount could not possibly risk amputation.

From what Ann Vaughn saw, less than a quarter of the ointment was used, containing a lower level of toxins.

Having finished everything, Ann Vaughn didn’t pause to rest but took the information to the Hawthorne Family.

During Grandpa Hawthorne’s hospitalization, Laura Quinn and Cyrus Hawthorne spent extended periods at the hospital, and she timed her entrance with them leaving the house.

Laughably, if it weren’t for that marriage certificate, she’d often feel like she had nothing to do with the Hawthorne Family anymore.

Though reality was not much different.

"Young Madam, you’re back?" Mrs. Lynch opened the door and was surprised to see Ann Vaughn, "Did you move back home?"

"No, I’m just here to get something, I’ll be leaving soon, don’t trouble yourself." Ann Vaughn gave her a faint smile and headed upstairs.

Mrs. Lynch sighed at her answer, "Young Madam, all couples argue at the head of the bed and make up at the end of it; you just moving out like that benefits those women eyeing the young master."

Ann Vaughn curled her lips without speaking, not explaining that it wasn’t a petty tantrum that made her leave but Cyrus Hawthorne who drove her out.

This was Ann Vaughn’s first time stepping into Cyrus Hawthorne’s study, the decor was quite classic, with bookshelves embedded in the walls, and everything from the carpet to the chandelier was exquisitely done.

She placed the file on the desk, ensuring it wouldn’t be overlooked, keeping it within easy reach for Cyrus Hawthorne.

Having finished all this, Ann Vaughn was about to leave when she noticed three differently sized white photo frames positioned at the top left of the desk, causing her to pause slightly.

The photos all depicted Cynthia Vaughn with a gentle smile.

Ann Vaughn’s lips curved then fell slowly under the weight of her emotions, she touched a pendant hidden under her clothes that no one else knew about, took a deep breath, and stepped out of the study.

She stood at the staircase for a moment to gather herself, her gaze swept around the Hawthorne residence, suddenly remembering what the doctor had said to her that day at the hospital.

With that thought, she quickly walked downstairs to Mrs. Lynch, tentatively inquiring.

"Mrs. Lynch, have you always been responsible for the kitchen? Has anything strange ever happened in there?"
