With the two of them inches apart, she let out a sharp laugh:
"Oh please, blacklisting me? Go right ahead. But, if you keep spewing nonsense, you won’t even get to sleep on the couch tonight!"

With one arm wrapping around her shoulder, she, though not short herself, seemed small and delicate beside him. His iron grip enveloped her, placing her firmly within his sphere of control.
