Chapter 439: Has He Already Left?
Kangfei Hospital VIP ward.
“You’re saying he’s already left? Impossible, right?” Rong Yan, carrying an insulated food container, stood at the ward entrance. Looking at the empty room, she asked the nurse in disbelief.
The nurse replied with difficulty, “Miss Rong, I’m not sure what happened, but Mr. Li has indeed left, and it’s been almost two hours.”
Rong Yan raised her wrist to check her watch. It had been almost two hours since she left the hospital to take a shower. So, did Li Shengxiao get discharged shortly after she left the hospital?
“Shall I contact Doctor Cui for you?” Knowing her relationship with Li Shengxiao, the nurse asked tentatively.
Rong Yan, embarrassed to trouble others, waved her hand and said, “No need, I’ll just give him a call and ask.”
She went to the window in the corridor, placed her insulated food container on a nearby chair, and took out her phone, about to make a call. Suddenly, a voice from behind stopped her.
Rong Yan turned around and saw Gu Ming approaching rapidly.
“Miss Rong, I’ve finally found you.”
Gu Ming arrived, panting heavily.
He made it just in time!
Without having a chance to steady his breathing, he hurriedly conveyed someone’s instructions, “Miss Rong, Mr. Li saw that you hadn’t come over and has already completed the discharge procedures; he’s waiting for you outside.”
“Didn’t he leave the hospital a while ago? The nurse just said he’s been gone for two hours. I thought he had some urgent business at the company and had gone back to Li Group headquarters.”
“No!” Gu Ming denied firmly, “Mr. Li had someone handle the discharge procedures early on, but then Doctor Cui arrived, and Mr. Li spent some time chatting with him, which caused a delay. Maybe the nurse misunderstood.”
He shifted all the blame onto the innocent Cui Jiangjing, who wasn’t even at the hospital. Cui Jiangjing would have been furious if he were here.
“Is that so?” Rong Yan didn’t think too much about it.
Mainly, she never anticipated that Li Shengxiao would go to KT Entertainment to take up her cause. She hesitantly looked down at the insulated food container in her hand and, feeling gloomy, followed Gu Ming out.
Outside the hospital, a black Lincoln was parked quietly by the roadside.
Gu Ming jogged over, opened the car door for her first, and then softly said, “Miss Rong, watch your head.”
Rong Yan bent down to get into the car.
As soon as she got in, she saw the distinguished and handsome man sitting inside, with a circle of white bandage wrapped around the back of his head, looking somewhat pale but not affecting the imposing aura he exuded. Sitting there, he seemed like God’s most perfect sculpture, flawless at every angle!
The moment Rong Yan entered the car, her wrist was seized, and his hawk-like eyes fell on the item in her hand. His voice hoarse, he asked, “What are you holding?”
“This?” Rong Yan lifted the insulated food container in her hand and said gloomily, “It’s porridge for you.”
“I thought since you were injured, you’d need to eat something light, so I went back to take a shower and made you some porridge specially. Who knew that by the time I returned, you had already been discharged, so it’s not needed anymore. I’ll just heat it up and eat it tonight.”
Rong Yan was accustomed to frugality, not because she was stingy. Back at the Rong Family, although she didn’t live as comfortably as Rong Weiwei, Rong Nanfeng treated her quite well; at the very least, she never went hungry. Her dislike for waste mainly stemmed from the habit she developed while living abroad alone, taking care of Little Baby.
