Chapter 550: Rong Weiwei is about to turn the tables
Rong Yan chatted with the magazine’s editor-in-chief for a while longer, and after the editor was called away by an assistant, she finally moved her stiff waist and went to change back into her own clothes.
When she returned the magazine’s gown to the stylist, she ran into Estelle, who had gone out to make a call and had just come back in.

Estelle stopped when she saw her and exclaimed in surprise, “The interview is over?”
“It ended half an hour ago. I didn’t see you, so I went to change my clothes first.”
Estelle, looking frazzled, patted her own forehead and said apologetically, “Sorry, I had to step out for a call.”
Rong Yan quickly replied, “It’s okay. I had to change clothes anyway after the interview, I only just finished. What happened?”
Estelle didn’t know how to explain. The matter wasn’t big, but it wasn’t small either; it wasn’t directly related to Rong Yan, but it definitely wasn’t good news.
“Let’s talk about it back in the car.” She glanced around the busy studio, hesitated, and then said to Rong Yan.
Back in the nanny van, with the driver heading towards Dihor Garden, Estelle finally said, “It’s about Rong Weiwei. She lost several opportunities recently, right?”
“Yeah.” Rong Yan was aware of Rong Weiwei’s loss of opportunities.
Estelle continued, “Everyone in the circle knew she was supposed to star in Director Stephen’s new film, but for some reason, he suddenly decided to replace her. This only started to spread recently in the circle, and if the female lead in Director Stephen’s film was replaced, Rong Weiwei would be taking a big fall. It would affect both her resources and popularity. But today, out of the blue, the tribute film being prepared by Lin City officially announced its leads, and the actress chosen for the female lead is… Rong Weiwei.”
This news was too unexpected!
Not just for her, but probably for everyone. Just when Rong Weiwei seemed about to hit rock bottom, she was able to bounce back.
And she landed the tribute film for Lin City!
After all, the reason tribute films are called so is because they belong to the genre promoting positive energy. If a star gets such a movie, it’s like being endorsed by mainstream media. Their status would naturally increase, and there would be no worries about resources afterward!
Rong Weiwei had only starred in a popular TV series and won an entertainment-based Best Actress Award, barely qualifying as a second-tier actress. But if she were to complete the tribute film, she would leap from the bottom of the second tier to almost first-tier status.
“The news has been officially announced, so it’s set in stone and won’t change. I really can’t understand why Lin City chose her to star… Considering her status and recent reputation, there’s no way this role would have gone to her.”
“If she got the role, then she got it,” Rong Yan said nonchalantly as if the news didn’t surprise her at all. If Rong Weiwei could be knocked down so easily, she wouldn’t be Rong Weiwei. Probably Mufeng helped, or she found connections through Jiang Meiqi.
Seeing that Rong Yan didn’t seem concerned, Estelle spoke with a headache, “The problem is that since she’s landed the tribute film, the online sentiment is starting to shift. Her fans have begun to spread word everywhere, claiming that her ability to star in a positive-energy tribute film proves that you slandered her. Otherwise, how could she land such a film amidst the controversy?”
“Starring in a tribute film represents positive energy?” Rong Yan was puzzled by Rong Weiwei’s fans’ whitewashing tactic. By that logic, if she played a princess in “The Three Kingdoms,” does that mean she’s really a princess?
This logic was toxic!
