“But if you’re hungry, you have to tell me. Mommy doesn’t want my little baby to be hungry, you know?”
Li Duidui felt a warm buzz in his heart, his little face also shining bright as he nodded vigorously, looking as obedient as could be.
Only then did Rong Yan lower her head to reply to the message, “Okay!”
Just as she finished replying, Gu Ming entered with a box of exquisite little cupcakes, saying, “Miss Rong, Young Master, sorry to keep you waiting.”
He set the cake box he was carrying on the table, his handsome face smiling as he said, “Mr. Li is still in a meeting. I was afraid you might be hungry, so I took the initiative to buy some desserts. Miss Rong, Young Master, Mr. Li will probably be busy for a while longer. Would you like to have something to tide you over?”
Rong Yan had in fact thought of ordering some takeout desserts for Little Bao earlier, aware that he was just five years old and that it would be bad if his tiny stomach went empty. But before she could act, Gu Ming had already brought the desserts. Surprised, she put down her phone and said softly to the little one who just claimed he wasn’t hungry, “Duidui, would you like to join Mommy for a bite?”
After all, Li Duidui was only five years old, and a child that age can hardly walk past sweet cupcakes. He was already tempted at the sight of the cupcakes Gu Ming brought in, but he had just proudly told his mom he wasn’t hungry in an effort to seem grown-up and had to pretend to look uninterested.
Now, hearing Rong Yan’s invitation, his little face revealed a hesitant expression, “But I’m not hungry…”
Rong Yan could tell from his little look that he hadn’t been really full, he was just stubbornly waiting to keep her company. She curved her lips up, smiling warmly, “Mommy’s hungry, though. Could Duidui eat a little with me? Otherwise, it won’t taste good if I eat alone.”
Li Duidui felt that Little Demon Rong was deliberately trying to tempt him, but looking at the drool-worthy strawberry cake on the table, then at his mom’s expectant eyes, he immediately caved, putting down his phone, “Alright. I’ll eat with Mommy.”
Rong Yan knew that saying such things would make the adorable Little Bao unable to bear the thought of her eating alone. She stood up, took the pretty little boy’s hand, and turned to Gu Ming with sparkling eyes, “Assistant Gu, where is the restroom? I’m going to take Duidui to wash his hands, and I’ll wash mine too.”
They had played with the phone for so long; of course, they had to wash their hands before eating cake. She was determined to instill good living habits in the child!
Seeing Gu Ming quickly leading them to the restroom, she followed. “The washroom is this way, please follow me, Miss Rong.”
In a conference room on the same floor at Li Group, a group of executives quietly observed the man sitting at the head playing with his phone, his mood seeming quite good.
Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the atmosphere in the air seemed to grow colder.
Li Shengxiao squinted at the simplistic and quick ‘okay’ reply from his little woman on the phone. She replied to him with just one word?
The distinguished man’s lips slowly pressed into a thin line.
He originally wanted to call her to ask where she was outside, who she was with, and why her message was so perfunctory, but logic did not permit him to do so.
He stared hard at the word ‘okay’ on his phone, then slowly put it back on the table. Looking up again, he saw the executives’ expressions now clearly full of displeasure. In an irritated tone that carried an undertone of dark huskiness, he interrupted the two quarreling executives, “Do you intend to make me sit here listening to you argue for three hours?”
