Chapter 559: Unspoken Care between the Big and the Small
In the break room, Rong Yan didn’t even realize the person she was waiting for had already finished his meeting.
After accompanying Little Baby to eat some cake to stave off hunger, Rong Yan found the latest “Bears Out” animated movie on the internet and started watching with the youngster.
Initially, she just didn’t want Little Baby to play games for too long, which is why she chose to watch the animation with him to pass the time. But as they watched, she got so engrossed in it—watching with relish and completely forgetting about the time.
It wasn’t until Li Shengxiao came looking for her that she realized it was already eight o’clock.
“Baby, let’s stop watching and go have dinner,” Rong Yan closed the iPad in front of the wistful Little Baby, stood up to stretch her nearly stiffened body, and naturally looked towards the man with a not-so-good complexion, asking, “Li Shengxiao, are you done?”
The originally furious man, upon seeing her fair and radiant face, didn’t know why but felt the anger in his chest dissipate. Grabbing her wrist, he said sternly, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Rong Yan was startled by her wrist being grabbed and took a moment to respond, “Tell you what?”
“…” To tell him that she was here waiting for him!
If he had known, she wouldn’t have had to wait in vain in the break room for three hours!
Realizing his implication, Rong Yan said with an epiphany, “Do you mean I didn’t tell you I came to wait for you with Little Baby?”
Her eyes hid stars as dazzling as could be; just looking into her eyes could make one inexplicably relax. “Weren’t you busy? I didn’t want to disturb you, so I asked Assistant Gu not to tell you.”
When facing Gu Ming, he was clearly dominating and intimidating, scaring Gu Ming to the point where his legs went weak. But the same answer, coming from Rong Yan, made him frown slightly darker. Yet all he did was purse his lips and grip her wrist a bit harder, saying, “Next time, you don’t need to do that, just tell me directly!”
“Anyway, I didn’t wait too long. Today’s work finished early, and there were no plans for the evening, so a little wait is fine. You often wait for me too, right?” Rong Yan blinked her eyes and spoke in a relaxed tone, “Since you’re done, let’s go, we’re going to eat something. Little Baby has been waiting all evening, looking forward to eating hotpot with you.”
Li Shengxiao glanced at the pretty Little Bean beside him.
Li Duidui also looked at him at the same time.
Both large and small eyes met mid-air and understood each other without needing to speak, then both looked away.
The little guy definitely didn’t want to wait just to eat hotpot with him. He wanted to eat with her; that was the truth!
Li Shengxiao withdrew his gaze and released her hand, stepped past her, picked up the silent and lovely little boy, then turned back and grabbed Rong Yan’s hand.
“Aren’t we going to eat hotpot? Let’s go.”
Li Duidui suddenly found himself in his embrace, and his first instinct was to resist. But seeing Little Demon Rong beside him, he silently retracted his small resisting hand.
Forget it, if it’s a meal arranged by mom, it’s peaceful coexistence; as long as mom likes it, he can learn to adapt, to like it as well.
At 8:30 pm, during the rush hour, the hotpot restaurant Rong Yan had chosen was busy. Luckily, they arrived just after the first wave of diners had left, so they didn’t have to wait outside and were seated immediately.
“This one, this one, and this, these.” Rong Yan skillfully marked down seven or eight dishes on the menu, then passed it to the man across from her, “You take a look, see if you want to add anything.”
