Chapter 573: Receiving the Kidnapping Call
Jiang Meiqi’s face changed dramatically, suddenly looking quite terrible. Just as she was about to retort, she was subtly held back by Rong Weiwei, who shook her head at her.
Turning to Rong Nanfeng instead, she said, “Mu is my brother, of course I’d come back. Dad, how could Mu have just disappeared ?”
“Ask your mother how she takes care of people!” Rong Nanfeng said irritably.
Jiang Meiqi, having been harshly spoken to twice in a row without respect, felt unable to save face. With a dark expression, she said coldly, “To take care of him, I hired two nannies. It’s not like I hid him away, so why are you taking it out on me?”
It was just the lost illegitimate child of some woman outside, did he need to act like the sky was falling?
It was better that the unruly little bastard was gone!
The best would be if he died out there!
Rong Nanfeng, seeing her indifferent attitude, felt anger bubbling up inside him and was about to speak without thinking when the home phone suddenly rang.
“Who could be calling the house at this hour?” Rong Weiwei feared the two might start arguing again. Relieved to hear the phone, she said to Rong Nanfeng, “Could it be Mu? Dad, hurry and answer the phone to check.”
The one thing Rong Nanfeng cared about the most was his only son, and he couldn’t bother to argue with Jiang Meiqi anymore. He dashed over like the wind to answer the call. Before picking up, he shrewdly activated the speakerphone and used his own mobile phone on the side as a makeshift recording device.
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while.
Rong Nanfeng suppressed the displeasure in his heart and called out a few more times, “Hello? Can you hear me? Hello? Is that you, Mu?”
“Hehe.” Just as he finished speaking, a strange laugh echoed from the other end, followed by a rough male voice, “It seems Mr. Rong is very eager to see his son.”
Rong Nanfeng’s face turned pale in an instant, he gripped the handset tightly, and immediately said, “Who are you? Is my son with you? I warn you to let him go immediately, otherwise I…”

These people had kidnapped Mu, surely they wanted something from him.
The person on the other side laughed again, “Mr. Rong is straightforward! One billion.”
“I want one billion, and then I’ll let your son go. This deal is not a loss for Mr. Rong, is it? One billion for the life of your only son is quite a bargain.”
One billion… Rong Nanfeng’s heart was bleeding, wishing he could strangle the other party, but he dared not refuse, demanding, “I want to hear Mu’s voice!”
After some shuffling on the other end, a noisy little boy’s voice suddenly erupted from the living room, “Dad, Dad, I feel so unwell, my head hurts so badly. Dad, I want to go home, I really want to go home.”
“Mu!” Rong Nanfeng couldn’t stay calm any longer and shouted into the receiver.
“Get the hell out of my way!” Following the rough voice of the man, the little boy’s voice was gone, “Mr. Rong, you’ve heard the voice. Prepare the money and transfer it to this account.”
