The owner of the small coffee shop witnessed the scene where Rong Nanfeng hit someone, and after the crowd had left, she stepped out and looked at Rong Yan, who remained seated in the original spot without moving. Concerned, she asked, “Rong Yan, are you okay?”
That slap from Rong Nanfeng was delivered with all his strength, numbing half of Rong Yan’s left face. She suppressed the various emotions in her chest, lifted her head, and barely shook it at the worried person, “I’m fine.”
“Your left cheek is swollen. Let me get you some ointment,” the owner said, noticing the bright red handprint on her face and was surprised by how harshly her father had hit her. She continued, not at ease, “You really should.”
“No need,” Rong Yan stopped her from getting the ointment, paid the money, and said, “I’d like to sit by myself for a while.”
Seeing that her mood was down, the owner didn’t insist on staying and hesitated before saying, “All right, Rong Yan, just sit and drink some water then. If you need the medicinal cream for the swelling, I have some. Just call me, and I’ll bring it over to you.”
“No thanks needed. You’ve always come over to support my business and even directed KT Corporation’s staff to buy drinks here. I know, and I should be the one thanking you. Take a good rest, and call me if you need anything,” the owner gave her a radiant smile and considerately walked away.
Rong Yan sat for a while, then picked up her juice and drank.

She got up, greeted the drink shop’s owner, and packed up her things. Then she headed towards the roadside…
Damn it, she didn’t want to deal with the Rong Family’s mess, but Rong Mu… was only 8 years old, still so young, and also a living, breathing person.
