Chapter 584: Seize the Opportunity
The man with the gruff voice said irritably, “Someone has to keep an eye on this kid, don’t you think? Aren’t you afraid he might run off?”
The man with the beard glanced at the boy who was playing with enthusiasm, thought for a moment, and agreed, “That’s true. Then you stay here and watch him, we will go outside and check what’s happening. I’ll call you if there’s anything, and you take the kid out through the back door. We’ll meet at the usual place.”
“Let’s go!” The bearded man, accompanied by a less courageous person, pushed through the crowd and headed outside.
Rong Yan made sure the two men had walked far enough away and now only one man was left guarding Rong Mu. She held her breath and subtly moved closer with her drink in hand…
She was a few steps away when the man, on high alert, noticed something off about her. He immediately stood in front of the boy and said in a harsh tone, “What are you doing!”
Rong Yan took a deep breath, lifted her head, and her face now bore a look of bewildered panic as she said in a soft voice, “I—I lost my earring just now, it got knocked off, and I think it might have rolled over here.”
The man shooed her off, displeased, “I didn’t see any earring! Back off!”
“But I really saw my earring roll over here, please let me look for it,” she implored with an anxious and scared manner, taking a few more steps his way.
The man, as if his tail had been stepped on, waved his hand and almost hit her as he yelled, “I told you I didn’t see any earring, scram!”
Rong Yan’s eyes darkened, and between her fingers, she held a slender silver needle. She thrust the needle towards the man’s wrist…
“Hiss.” The needle was fine, the kind usually used for acupoint therapy and nearly invisible under dim lighting. The sudden prick on his hand felt to the man like a bee sting, slightly painful. He reflexively swatted at it, but hit nothing.
“What the hell are you doing!”
Even if he hadn’t realized what Rong Yan had done to him, he was sure something was off about her. He shouted fiercely and lunged at Rong Yan.
Just then, his whole body went numb, and he collapsed uncontrollably to the ground.
A loud “thud” caught the attention of everyone nearby.
“What was that noise?”
“Oh my God, someone’s fallen over.”
“Did someone just die?”
The area filled with panicked chatter, with some calling for the bartender.
Seizing the opportunity, Rong Yan rushed over, grabbed the wrist of the little boy who was absorbed in playing with a glass, and whispered urgently, “You’re Rong Mu, right? Come with me!”
The boy, having fun until then, was startled when someone suddenly grabbed his wrist and began to pull him away. He didn’t quite catch what Rong Yan said and began to struggle desperately, “What are you doing, let go! Let me go!”
His struggle wasn’t just flailing; he also bit and kicked, causing quite a few people around to take notice.
“F*ck!” Rong Yan felt like dying, she frowned, grabbed his teeth, and threatened sharply, “Try moving again, and if you do, be careful or I’ll knock all your teeth out!”
Her threat seemed to work well on the unruly boy; Rong Mu was intimidated and let her drag him through the crowd.
Everything had gone as smoothly as she had anticipated, and she had been about to quietly take the kid away. Just as they were about to reach the bar’s entrance, she saw from a distance the bearded man cursing his way back…
She was planning to avoid him and sneak out.
Just then, the boy she was holding shouted, “Mr. Lei, I’m here! I’m over here!”
