Rong Yan had yet to react when Estelle’s face suddenly darkened, and just as she was about to step forward, she was subtly blocked by Rong Yan.
“Is it you?” Rong Yan’s tone was affirmative, though her words formed a question.
Rong Weiwei’s sudden appearance here, claiming she had taken on a chocolate advertisement, didn’t seem like mere coincidence to her. Such coincidences were too contrived; the only truth was that Rong Weiwei had deliberately sabotaged her advertisement!
“What do you mean, me?” Rong Weiwei, savoring the thrill of victory, smiled gently in a graceful demeanor, “Sister, you couldn’t possibly be here for the same brand’s chocolate advertisement, could you? I’m sorry, but when I agreed to the ad, the brand told me they had initially chosen another female spokesperson, but after some consideration, they found her unsuitable; she was all hype with too little clout. They kept imploring me to save the day. You know, my schedule was originally cleared for Director Stephen, but then I got tied up with a tribute film, so I happened to be free for this slot. I gave it some thought and accepted.”
With a bite of her tender lip and a mocking glint in her eyes, she said lightheartedly, “So it turns out you were the one the brand was talking about, Sister. This seems to be your first advertisement; you must have prepared quite a bit for it. I already have enough endorsements; one more doesn’t make a difference. I reluctantly agreed to help out just because I have a good relationship with the brand’s top executives. If I’d known the person they previously chose was you, I wouldn’t have accepted.”
The way she folded her arms across her chest didn’t seem at all eager, as she had said, but rather like someone who had won a victory bestowing charity upon her own defeated self from on high.
It was as if she was saying if Rong Yan really wanted the advertisement, she could beg her, and perhaps she’d be magnanimous enough to give it up.
“Sister, shall I talk to the director for you?”
Rong Yan watched her put on airs and waited until she had finished her act before she looked at her with a derisive smile, “It seems like you’ve forgotten how your ‘Three Kingdoms’ was snatched away.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Rong Weiwei’s previously cheerful demeanor couldn’t be maintained any longer, her face suddenly turning grim as she glared at Rong Yan like a venomous serpent suddenly administered poison.
“The Three Kingdoms” was the thorn that had pierced deepest into Rong Weiwei’s heart. Initially, she thought she was sure to secure this opportunity, and announcements had been made to the public, yet it ended up being intercepted by Rong Yan, subjecting her to ridicule both openly and covertly within their circle at that time.
It was from that moment onward that her misfortunes began, always bested by this cunning brat by a single step!
Rong Yan was satisfied as she watched Rong Weiwei clamp her mouth shut, looking at her with cold and clear eyes, “Rong Weiwei, do you know what you and Shi Mufeng remind me of?”
“In my eyes, you’re like a pile of dog shit on the ground; after one glance from me, both of you rush towards it, afraid you won’t get a bite of something hot.”
Rong Weiwei’s face changed drastically.
She was calling herself a dog!
Rong Yan, uninterested in dealing with her, took Estelle’s arm, “Estelle, let’s go.”
“Yeah. Okay.” Estelle also had no fondness for Rong Weiwei’s pretentious act, casting a sidelong glance before following Rong Yan, brushing past Rong Weiwei.
Rong Weiwei’s nails dug deep into her flesh, her eyes full of jealousy and resentment. Suddenly, she turned her head, calling out sharply to the departing figures, “Rong Yan!”
She had been calling her “sister, sister” before, likely sickening others. Now, tearing off her guise and calling out her name directly somehow felt more pleasant.
