“Hurry up, so annoying, dawdling over every little thing. I’m about to break out in pimples because of the makeup suffocating my face, and you still don’t know to move faster. Do you want to suffocate me to death?” Fu Ya walked at the front, fanning herself with her palm, her face consumed by irritation and dissatisfaction, “Are your legs broken, or are you deaf? I’ve been calling you for ages and you still don’t hurry up. You’re not even in front of me yet; should I wait for you to come over and make me a cup of Beautifying Flower Tea or prepare to serve you tea and massage your legs?”
The assistant behind her was dragging a suitcase almost as tall as herself, and she was also holding a set of evening wear. Her slender figure seemed to wobble under Fu Ya’s scolding, sweat covering her forehead as she desperately tried to move faster, apologizing with an embarrassed face, “I’m sorry, Ya, I’ll go make you tea right away.”
“Right away, then run faster, will you! Can you appease me with just saying ‘right away’?” Fu Ya stood still in front, completely indifferent to the assistant’s discomfiture, calmly expressing her contempt.
“I’m sorry.” The assistant, sweating profusely from anxiety, forced herself to move faster and faster, hardly managing to run up to Fu Ya’s side.
Just when she was about to go ahead, Fu Ya became dissatisfied again and scolded loudly, “What are you doing! You’re just an assistant, how dare you walk in front of me, don’t you know the rules?”
Confused by the scolding, the assistant said in a tight voice, “Isn’t Ya thirsty? I just wanted to quickly go make you some Beautifying Flower Tea.”
Fu Ya didn’t listen to her explanation at all, her disdainful brows and eyes twisted up as she said with disgust, “You’re talking back now. It seems you don’t quite understand your place. If I weren’t paying your salary every month, you would have nothing but northwest wind to drink. A country bumpkin coming to the city, and you still raise your voice at me. If you feel so wronged, then quit. KT Entertainment won’t miss you. Worse comes to worst, I’ll just have the company assign me a new assistant.”
“I’m sorry, Ya, my little brother is about to start college, and he’s waiting for me to send the tuition fees. Please don’t let the company fire me, I’ll remember next time and won’t make you angry again.”
Fu Ya looked at her with disdain, exhibiting not an ounce of sympathy, and arrogantly lifted her chin, “If there’s a next time, you can pack up and get lost. The kind of assistant I want isn’t supposed to be a charity worker. Your brother’s school has nothing to do with me, so don’t give me that story. If you can’t do a good job, then get lost.”
“…I’m sorry.” The assistant was scolded until she was utterly humiliated, her head drooping, tears brimming in her eyes out of grievance, yet she didn’t dare show it, fearing that it would only anger Fu Ya more and that upon returning Fu Ya would torment her even worse.
Just then, another group of people coincidentally came out of the company. Unlike Fu Ya, this person was followed by assistants, a makeup artist, an agent, and a grand entourage of four or five people.
As soon as they bumped into each other, Fu Ya’s attention shifted from her much-abused assistant to the newcomers.
Seeing their leader being treated like a star, Fu Ya ground her teeth with jealousy and scoffed, muttering, “Scheming actress! Look at that smugness, as if trying to show off that she climbed up the ranks by snatching her good friend’s resources. Humph!”
Xia Xue had run into a roadblock as soon as she stepped out and heard the familiar scornful mockery. She had gotten used to it and could still greet with a smile that made it seem as if she hadn’t realized Fu Ya was implying insults at her, “Ya, what a coincidence, have you just finished your schedule and are heading back? I’m about to go shoot a scene and here I run into you.”
“Get your hands off me.” Fu Ya pushed away her hand with disgust, giving her a scornful sideways glance, adjusting her own clothes, and said with a sour tone, “There’s no need to stress about going to shoot a scene, everybody knows you landed the third female lead in ‘Just To Meet You’ and have successfully broken out into the circle.”
