However, she was much smarter than Fu Ya. Ever since Rong Yan had appeared, she hid all her curiosity behind Fu Ya, trying to minimize her own presence. She neither spoke nor moved, just stood there, staring at Rong Yan.
Rong Yan stopped in front of Fu Ya, her makeup-free face exuding a much more powerful aura than Fu Ya’s carefully made-up bright red lips. “I remember warning you not to mess with me,” she said.
Fu Ya, completely overpowered in terms of aura, was still talking tough. “I didn’t mess with you. It was your son who ran to the company looking for you. I saw an unknown child sneaking in; of course, I had to catch him to prevent him from running around. It’s his fault for not listening and even biting me. I haven’t even asked you for medical expenses yet!” she retorted.
A shadow passed through Rong Yan’s eyes as she held Little Baby’s hand and looked at Fu Ya. “Oh, how much?” she asked.
“What do you mean, how much?” Fu Ya was confused by her attitude.
Rong Yan said, “Didn’t you mention you wanted to ask me for medical expenses? How much.”
Fu Ya had just made a casual remark to shut her up, but now Rong Yan was taking it seriously, she didn’t know what amount would be appropriate. “…He bit me, and I haven’t even gone to the hospital to get it checked out. How would I know how much it’s going to cost?”
Finding herself sounding too meek, she puffed out her chest, “He just bit me and broke the skin on my hand. I must get an x-ray to see if the bone is damaged. Plus, I need to get a tetanus shot and probably rest for at least two days. I have a booking tomorrow, and that has to be canceled. If you add it all up, it’s more than just medical expenses!”
She had just started to gain some popularity from the AQ talent show, and the bookings weren’t paying much. She purposely made it sound like she was of higher value, merely to gain some attention from Rong Yan.
Rong Yan pulled out a bank card from her wallet and tossed it to Fu Ya, “There’s thirty thousand in it. With your current status, a booking might get you a few thousand, ten thousand at most. I’m giving you the highest rate, twenty thousand for an appearance. The rest is for your tetanus shot.”
Fu Ya, caught off guard by the card, clutched the unexpected bank card, reluctant to return it to Rong Yan, her brow furrowed suspiciously, “What do you mean by this? This money wouldn’t happen to be hush money, would it?”
The woman was handing out thirty thousand just like that, way too generous.
More importantly, this woman was notoriously tough to deal with. Having just seen her bully that little illegitimate child, why would she suddenly give her money?
Rong Yan looked at her with disdain, “This money is for the so-called lost earnings and medical expenses you mentioned, not hush money. Feel free to expose whatever you want; I won’t stop you.”
With Li Shengxiao’s protection, Little Baby, Fu Ya might as well give it a try.
“Hmph.” Fu Ya didn’t believe her words. She still thought that Rong Yan gave her the thirty thousand because she was afraid Fu Ya would go to the press about the illegitimate child. She pocketed the money, feeling fully justified, and her previous nervousness had vanished. Her youthful face took on an arrogant look, “If you’re trying to play the part of the rich, I would be wrong not to accept it. Fine, I’ll take the money. That bite we’re even now!”
She began to walk past Rong Yan and paused for a moment as they brushed by one another, smugly saying, “As for that matter of your illegitimate child, I’m definitely going to report it to the company executives. With such a big issue, the company has a right to know!”
With such a ticking time bomb on Rong Yan’s back about to explode, surely the company wouldn’t continue to favor her.
Once Rong Yan was no longer favored, all the resources linked to her would then be transferred to her own hands.
