Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Mom is Always Right
The unexpected involvement of the two kids meant that no serious discussions could be had, so Shen Hanxiu called over Yang Zichen.
At one end of the long table, Yang Zichen was discussing work with the other party, while at this end, the two adults and two kids looked just like a family out for a meal.
Su Bao followed Su Nian the whole way, and after he let her sit down at one side of the table, he immediately took the seat next to her, preventing Shen Hanxiu from having a chance to sit beside his mom.
So Su Bao and Su Nian sat on one side, while Su Zhen and Shen Hanxiu sat opposite them.
Su Zhen had been complaining about hunger for a while and ordered quite a few dishes she liked.
Standing on the stool, Su Zhen stretched up to see Su Bao playing some number game on Su Nian’s phone, which looked perplexing to her, so she reached out her chubby hand: “Little kids can’t play this game; I want to play the matching game!”
In the middle of the game, her phone was snatched away; Su Bao turned his head to glance at her, while Su Zhen spoke self-righteously: “I’m the big sister, so you have to listen to me!”
Su Bao didn’t argue or grab, sitting properly at the table, while Su Nian disciplined her: “Zhenzhen, no acting up!”
Su Zhen would mimic whatever Shen Hanxiu taught!
Su Zhen pouted and turned to complain: “Uncle Shen, look how Mom favors someone else; when Su Bao is the older brother, she tells him to boss me around, but now that I’m the older sister, she won’t let me boss Su Bao around!”
Shen Hanxiu watched as Su Nian’s apricot eyes kept glaring at him, and he said: “Mom is always right; you just need to listen to her.”
Su Zhen turned her head: “I don’t want to listen to Mom; Mom only likes Su Bao!”
“If you listen to Mom, she will like you.”
Su Nian knew that Su Zhen was just playing, and once the game started, she stopped fussing. Her plump hands slowly tapped on the phone’s icons, occasionally interacting with Shen Hanxiu: “Uncle, help me find them quickly, there’s no time left!”
So Third Young Master Shen very patiently played the intelligence-lowering matching game with the three-year-old.
The dishes ordered were swiftly served, and Su Zhen immediately put down the phone, standing on the stool ready to dive into the feast.
“Zhenzhen, sit down properly.”
Su Zhen pouted and sat down again, starting to act spoiled: “Uncle, look at Mom; she has to boss me around with everything.”
For four years since Su Nian left, Shen Hanxiu had never been seen smiling; but today, with her right across from him and the cute kids beside him, a trace of warmth had begun to appear on his indifferent face.
However, glancing at Su Bao sitting across from him, this child was also a handful, showing complete indifference to him, even being wary; but given his composed and mature demeanor, Shen Hanxiu felt it would be suspicious if the boy weren’t his son!
But now, Su Bao was always hindering him in his pursuit of his wife, even if he were indeed his biological son – he was destined to be a thorn in his side!
Both children loved the fried shrimp on the plate; Su Zhen quickly grabbed several pieces into her bowl until Su Nian told her to stop, she then reluctantly held back.
But there were hardly any left in the dish.
Su Bao picked up his chopsticks and went for the last piece; Su Zhen saw it, threw her chopsticks aside, stood up from her stool, snatched the shrimp already in Su Bao’s chopsticks, and stuffed it into her mouth.
Shen Hanxiu watched naughty Su Zhen and couldn’t help but smiled; she indeed took after her mom at this age.
Su Nian deliberately scolded with a deadpan face: “Zhenzhen, you can’t bully your brother!”
With the shrimp still half-chewn in her mouth, Su Zhen instantly pouted in self-pity: “I’m the younger sister; the older brother should give in to me…”
“Uncle, order another plate…” Shen Hanxiu hadn’t finished speaking when Su Nian interrupted: “No need, eating too much of it is bad for health.”
Being a tolerant person towards his sister, Su Bao was already accustomed to Su Zhen’s bossiness.
Su Nian should be grateful for Su Bao’s sensibility; otherwise, heaven knows how many fights the two kids would have.
