My five ghostly husbands Chapter 40

After Milo came out of the changing room wearing the olive green robe, Ruby found herself unable to take her eyes off him. The color enhanced his facial features effortlessly, bringing out the warmth in his brown honey-colored eyes and the softness of his fluffy brown hair. He looked more handsome than she had ever imagined.

Milo smiled happily, twirling slightly, feeling lighter than ever. He had never worn new clothes in his life before; he always had to make do with secondhand clothes. But now, standing before Ruby in a robe that fit him perfectly, he couldn’t help but ask, "How do I look?"

"Very handsome," Ruby replied, her eyes soft with admiration.

She smiled, feeling proud of her choices, as she also picked out sets for Adrian and Karl, carefully considering their body shapes and complexions. Ruby then selected three sets for herself, imagining how she would feel wearing them.

"38 coins," the shopkeeper said cheerfully as Ruby handed over the payment. Shee gave her the change with a smile, clearly pleased with the sale.

With all their bags in hand, Milo and Julian each carried one, while Ruby carried two. As they exited the shop.

Ruby then brought a simple purse for her money, and after a little more browsing, she finally found a skincare shop. She took Milo and Julian inside, feeling ready to find something for her skin.

"Welcome, miss! What can I show you for your husbands?" a witch behind the counter asked with a warm smile. Ruby’s eyes wandered across the transparent shelves that neatly displayed a variety of skincare products. The shelves glowed with an ethereal light, making the shop feel almost magical.

But then, Ruby’s gaze froze as she noticed something—everything on the shelves was designed specifically for ghosts!

Shaving cream for ghosts.

Specially formulated sunscreen for ghosts.

Moisturizers for ghosts.

Her expression stiffened as she read the product details. The labels clearly stated that these products were made for ghost. Her mind was in a whirl as she wondered if these were the only products available.

The witch behind the counter seemed to sense her hesitation and asked again, "Miss, what would you like for your husbands?"

Ruby forced a smile and replied automatically, "Hair oil, sunscreen, and moisturizer..."

Milo and Julian, who had been silently observing, lit up with excitement. They had heard from many ghosts just how amazing these skincare products were and were thrilled to finally get their hands on them.

Ruby couldn’t help but feel a wave of mixed emotions. Was this how men felt when they bought female products for themselves? A little out of place, a little embarrassed? The irony of it all made her want to cry.

In this world, witches didn’t pay much attention to skincare; even the few products made for witches were hard to come by. The most common items were basic facewash, soap, and maybe some hair oil. That was about it.

Ruby, however, was used to taking good care of her skin in her previous life, no matter how busy she was. She awkwardly cleared her throat and asked the shopkeeper, "Do you have facewash and cream for my skin type?"

The witch behind the counter The witch behind the counter raised an eyebrow in mild surprise but nodded, leading her over to a small shelf with a handful of items. Ruby picked out a facewash, a simple soap packet.

"Do you have any good toothpaste and toothbrushes?" Ruby asked next. The witch nodded and handed her a set of simple toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste.

With her skincare shopping done, Ruby decided to check out the bookstore next. As she stopped in front of it, Milo looked at her, confused. "Wife, why are we here?" he asked, noticing the sign.

Ruby smiled. "I need to pick up a few things," she replied, nudging him lightly. Milo leaned forward, trying to get a glimpse inside, clearly curious about what had captured her interest.

Ruby chuckled and nudged him lightly, "Why are you peeking? Let’s go inside."

Once they entered, an old witch at the counter greeted them with a warm smile. "What can I get for you, child?" she asked, her voice soft and kind.

"Yes, I’d like a blank notebook, a diary, and a set of pens and pencils," Ruby said, looking over the shelves filled with notebooks. The covers were simple, but she thought to herself that she could personalize them later, maybe even find a way to quickly buy a computer or laptop to design her own.

She then asked, "Could you tell me where the books on world history and heritage are?"

The old witch, hard of hearing, squinted in confusion. "Hmm?" she murmured, looking up at Ruby with a puzzled expression.

Just then, an older ghost came from the other side of the wall. He seemed to be her husband and gave a gentle nod, pointing to the left. "That section over there," he said with a small smile.

Ruby nodded as she headed toward the shelves, with Milo and Julian trailing behind. The two exchanged confused glances, still puzzled as to why Ruby seemed so interested in notebooks and history books, but they followed along, curious to see what else she had in mind.

Ruby handed her shopping bags to Julian, who took them from her with a gentle smile. She then started browsing through the thick, red-colored books with moon symbols on the covers. Most of the titles seemed focused on history, and after flipping through a few, she spotted one with no title on the cover. Inside, the listed exactly what she was looking for: the creation of the world, revolutions, customs, and significant events in history.

As she skimmed the book, Milo tilted his head, watching her with curiosity. "Wife, are you planning to go to school again?" he asked, genuinely puzzled.

Ruby couldn’t help but laugh at his innocence. "No, not at all. I just want something interesting to read in my free time," she replied with a smile.

Milo and Julian both nodded, accepting her answer, though they still looked a bit curious.

Julian hesitated for a moment, then gently reminded her, "Wife... we should hurry a bit. We still need to buy things for our house rituals."
