On the way back, Sikong Mo didn’t immediately take Ye Jiu back to her room, but stopped halfway through, the two of them standing face to face beside the street.
"Walk with me," Sikong Mo said, taking the lead and leaving no chance for Ye Jiu to refuse.
Ye Jiu shrugged her shoulders as she followed him, taking a few quick steps to catch up to Sikong Mo’s pace.
In the blink of an eye, it was almost August, and during this time she had been in the capital city without any contact with her family.
Everything else was fine and there wasn’t much to worry about, except, the 200 acres of watermelons she had planted on her farm must have ripened by now—she had no idea how Ye Changsheng had dealt with them.
Originally, she had hoped to profit from the planting, making a fortune from the watermelons, but had ended up going to the capital to search for her elder brother, hence neglecting the affairs at the farm.
In contrast, this trip to the capital had earned her a hefty sum.
Regarding this, Ye Jiu was quite satisfied.
After turning a corner and walking for a long while, Sikong Mo stopped unsatisfied, but Ye Jiu didn’t notice and bumped right into him.

The thought that they would be home in just one more day, however, made it hard for her to suppress her excitement.

The thought of parting, after such a long time together and having provided protection, and she could still manage a smile.
Ye Jiu felt herself that sometimes she indeed lacked a heart.
However, Sikong Mo speaking to her in such a manner made her somewhat displeased.
Ye Jiu pushed Sikong Mo away, just about to retort, but then she saw, in the distance behind him, a mass of flames lighting up the entire sky red.
"Sikong Mo, look quickly..." Ye Jiu tugged at his arm, then pointed towards the distance.
The direction of the fire seemed to be exactly where they were staying.
Sikong Mo, without any hesitation, swept her up into his arms and leaped away with a light tap of his toes.
Upon returning to where they were stationed, Ye Jiu saw that two groups of men were fiercely fighting, and the supplies they had been escorting for nearly two months were almost entirely burned.
"Hide yourself in the space." Sikong Mo placed Ye Jiu in a concealed spot nearby and then, without any hesitation, dived into the fray.
"Retreat..." As soon as the person in command on the opposing side saw Sikong Mo return, he launched a firework and yelled loudly, and then all his men stopped engaging in battle, trying to retreat en masse.
Alas, it was too late.
Sikong Mo drew his long sword from his waist, his movements so fast they were nearly imperceptible, sending out waves of sword energy, causing those men in black who were slightly slower to fall one by one.
Unfortunately, the leader managed to flee quickly, allowing some stragglers to escape as well.
"Prince, a large portion of the supplies has been burned." After taking stock, Si Nan knelt on one knee before Sikong Mo to take the blame.
