"Each team will have four members. Two members can choose their partners. The remaining two will be one girl and one weaker student."
"Two members choose their partners; the other two—a girl and a weaker student—will be assigned by the teacher."
The teacher explained the rules just before the training began.
Hiroshi turned to Harumiko, smiling. "This makes sense. It separates the strong and the weak."
Harumiko nodded, smiling. "Yeah, having a mix of strong and weak students on each team is fair. Only two members can choose their partners, but the other two—a girl and a weaker student—will lower the team’s overall strength. This ensures a relatively even playing field."
Aya turned to Hiroshi and Harumiko. "So, I’ll team up with Hanako. You two can be a team!" She then went to find her other teammate.
"This training will be meaningful. Each team will be evenly matched, increasing our chances of winning!" Hiroshi said, smiling at Harumiko.
A teacher gave each team member a balloon with their name written on it.
"If your balloon bursts, you’re eliminated. Using jutsu or throwing objects to burst another team’s balloon is considered invalid."
"If all the balloons in a team burst, the entire team is eliminated. I’ve made myself clear. Get ready; the competition begins in ten minutes."
The teacher went to assign the remaining students to teams.
"So that’s how this works! This is unexpected. Compared to previous training sessions, this one will be interesting!" Hiroshi whispered, smiling as the teacher assigned the remaining students.
The students prepared their equipment and tied their balloons to themselves.
A younger boy and a girl approached Hiroshi and Harumiko. "Wow, great! I’m on your team, and my sister is too!" the boy said happily.
