Naruto: Shinobi Payday Chapter 25

Chapter 25 - 25: Kamui vs Tremor-Tremor Fruit

?!

Obito's Sharingan spun faster as he stared at the impossible scene in front of him.

Zeldris was right there.

Holding his wrist.

That shouldn't have been possible. Kamui was active. He should've phased right through.

But no—Zeldris got him. Not for long, but enough to rattle even the most seasoned war criminal.

Still, that wasn't what shook Obito the most.

It was the speed.

When did he move?

One moment he was standing casually a dozen feet away, and the next—bam—right in his personal bubble, acting like it was his living room.

Obito's eyes narrowed, scanning Zeldris from head to toe.

Nothing abnormal.

No chakra flare. No teleportation signs. No sound. Just appeared.

Meanwhile, Zeldris stood there like it was a Sunday stroll, still holding that faint, borderline smug smile.

Then, without even looking at Obito, he tilted his head toward Sasori and spoke casually—like a dad sending his kid off to school.

"That's enough, Sasori. You're not cut out for this one. Leave him to me."

Sasori—who had been replaying the last 10 seconds in stunned silence—snapped out of it and took a long step back.

"...Yeah. You got it."

He didn't even try to argue.

His pride was still somewhere buried under the mountain of what the hell just happened.

His mind raced:

Phantom attacks... teleporting... flaming snake tornadoes...

This wasn't a battle. This was a cosmic warning that he needed more training.

Zeldris, meanwhile, was laser-focused on the masked man.

Obito's voice came colder now. "So eager to die?" he asked, eyes gleaming red. "You're more impatient than I thought... kid."

Zeldris didn't blink.

"No need for small talk," he replied. "Unless you're here to pitch a pyramid scheme, let's get to it."

He cracked his neck.

"I've been meaning to run an experiment anyway. And you, my friend? You're the perfect lab rat."

Obito stiffened slightly.

Did he just call me a test subject?

Behind the mask, his jaw clenched. This guy wasn't just confident—he was straight-up disrespectful.

"You think I'm some tool to test your jutsu on?" he asked, tone darkening.

Zeldris shrugged. "If it helps, you're definitely not the worst tool I've seen."

Obito didn't dignify that with a response. Instead, his body shimmered—

Kamui activated.

His form flickered and phased, slipping into that half-corporeal state. Zeldris's grip passed clean through.

Obito pulled back, now a few meters away, eyes sharper than ever.

But Zeldris?

Still smiling.

Still chill.

Like this was going exactly the way he wanted.

"Let's make this quick," he said lightly, brushing imaginary dust off his coat. "I've got better things to do than slap around a glorified screensaver."

Obito chuckled darkly, voice low and gravelly. "Confident. But did you already forget?"

He gestured to his body, still phasing in and out.

"No attack can touch me."

It wasn't a brag. It was a fact. The kind you didn't question.

Then, he added—almost playfully:

"Tell you what. If by some miracle you beat me, I'll hire you."

"You're a mercenary, right? Let's see if you're worth the paycheck."

Zeldris let out a short laugh.

"Well then," he said, eyes lighting up, "I hope your wallet's thick—because my rates go up when people talk spicy."

The wind picked up, tugging at their cloaks, lifting grains of sand like smoke.

Then—

Boom.

Obito's hands blurred through seals.

"Fire Style: Explosive Wind Dance!"

A cyclone of wind erupted, followed by a blazing fire serpent that ripped through the desert like a dragon made of napalm.

The heat was unreal. The kind that melts sand into glass.

Even Sasori, from a safe distance, felt it bite at his skin.

"Okay..." he muttered, shielding his eyes. "If that hits, Zeldris is going home in smoke signals."

But Zeldris didn't move.

Didn't dodge.

Didn't flinch.

He just watched.

Expression calm.

Eyes clear.

Posture relaxed—like someone watching a rerun of a show they've already seen five times.

The flames screamed toward him, and he raised one hand.

Just one.

No dramatic yell. No flashy hand signs.

Just a simple gesture—and a faint pulse of light wrapped around his knuckles.

It wasn't chakra.

It wasn't fire or lightning or wind.

It was... something else.

Pure. White. Pressure.

Obito narrowed his eyes.

What the hell is that?

Then—

CRACK.

The world shook.

Not metaphorically.

Literally.

A sound like reality splitting in half rang out, sharp and jagged—like someone snapping the spine of the planet.

The fire serpent hit—

And vanished.

No explosion. No impact.

Just... gone.

Obito blinked. Once. Twice.

Then, very softly: "What... was that?"

Zeldris looked up slowly, smile gone now. Voice quiet. Serious.

"Let me show you what happens when you punch the air so hard it begs for mercy."
