Chapter 26 - 26: He’s... breaking space?!

Obito's eyes narrowed as he fixated on the strange white light cloaking Zeldris's fist.
He searched his memory—recalled Konan's reports—but nothing matched what he was seeing now.
What bothered him more was this:
There was no chakra fluctuation.
None.
Not the slightest tremor.
Through his Sharingan, Obito scanned Zeldris's body again. Still nothing.
That's impossible.
Chakra always surged violently when ninjutsu was activated. Yet Zeldris's energy was eerily calm—too calm.
It wasn't just unusual. It was unnatural.
Obito's mind raced. This isn't ninjutsu... Then what the hell is it?
But before he could dig deeper, a sharp, chilling crack echoed across the air—like glass breaking.
What now?!
His eyes snapped forward.
Zeldris's fist—still glowing with that blinding white light—had struck nothing. Empty space.
And yet...

And then, the desert beneath their feet began to rumble.
The ground quaked violently—sand spilling and shifting as if the earth itself were panicking.
Even Obito and Sasori staggered for balance as the shockwaves rippled through the land.
Obito gritted his teeth. What kind of power is this?
How can even my Sharingan not read it?
Before he could formulate another thought, his attention snapped back to Zeldris.
The fire serpent—his Fire Style: Explosive Wind Dance—had reached Zeldris.
But it didn't land.
It just... stopped.
As if an invisible wall stood between them, the flaming beast writhed in place, unable to advance an inch.
Obito stared, stunned.
His breath caught in his throat. That barrier... It's not even visible...
Then—
CRACK!
Another shatter.
In the next instant, his jutsu—his monstrous, blazing fire technique—fractured and vanished, broken into glimmering shards of energy before evaporating completely into the air.
Gone.
Not even embers remained. Just the faint, lingering scent of something once burned.
Zeldris stood there, untouched.
He gave a small, casual wave of his hand.
"No need to keep testing me," he said coolly, eyes locked onto Obito. "If you want to fight—then fight."
He paused, then added with a smirk:
"Oh, and... you said no attack can touch you, right?"
His lips curled further into a cold, smug grin.
"Funny. Same goes for me."
Obito didn't speak immediately. But behind the mask, his smirk grew.
"Well... you're full of surprises, I'll give you that."
He straightened, Sharingan gleaming ominously.
"Looks like I underestimated you."
"And it also looks like you haven't gone all out yet, either."
Obito took a single step forward, eyes sharp and unblinking.
"Come on. Let's see if that 'untouchable' power of yours can do more than just look pretty."
From the sidelines, Sasori frowned, visibly unsettled.
Still talking big...? After seeing that...?
This guy is either extremely confident—or completely insane.
He glanced toward Zeldris again.
Still calm. Still smiling faintly.
Sasori could only shake his head. These two... they're not normal.
Is this what it means to be truly powerful?
But Zeldris broke the silence again, voice slow and cold:
"You know... in a way, we're not so different."
He rolled his shoulders slightly, loosening up.
"But since you've asked for it... I'll deliver."
And then, that smile vanished.
The light in Zeldris's eyes shifted—no longer casual, no longer amused.
It was deadly now.
Sharp and unfeeling.
"If you die—" he said flatly,
"—don't blame me."
