Asher Land’s lips carried a playful smile, and he nodded knowingly.
"Yeah, how should I punish you?" he murmured as if talking to himself.
He bent his tall figure down and leaned closer to her.
"How about punishing you by having you accompany me on a lake outing?"
Damn Asher Land, could it be that he intends to use the opportunity to push her into the water?
"As long as you’re willing."
Even though she was panicking inside, her mouth spoke softly, after all, she couldn’t completely dissociate herself from this matter.
"Good girl." He affectionately tapped the tip of her nose, and Sophie Smith turned her head awkwardly.
His reaction was too strange, not getting angry but instead joking with her?
"Brother Asher..." Irene Morton’s weak voice sounded from behind them, prompting Asher Land to reflexively turn his head.
"Irene, you’re awake."
"Of course, with you here, how could I not be?" Irene pouted, "Even with me , you’re still flaunting your affection with Sister Sophie."
Asher Land let out a helpless laugh, Irene was like a child who never grew up, always this childish.
From Asher Land’s eyes, Sophie Smith could immediately see the fondness he had for Irene.
Many people believed Asher Land spoiled her, but she didn’t think so.
If he was unhappy, he would be harsh with her; if she angered him, then she would surely have to pay the price.
So everyone must have faulty eyesight to think he spoiled her, right?
"Irene, I’ll go buy something for you to eat."
Right now she seemed rather out of place here.
"Then thank you, Sister Sophie."
Sophie Smith picked up the bag on the table and walked downstairs.
While passing through the dining room, she suddenly spotted a familiar figure; wasn’t that her savior?
But he’d already changed out of that white leisure outfit, now dressed in a mature and dignified black suit.
Enveloped by a group of people, he entered the VIP suite of the Western-style restaurant, and Sophie Smith could only watch from afar.
"Forget it, he doesn’t care about your gratitude." Sophie Smith brushed it off, heading to a restaurant to buy some of Irene’s favorite foods.
When Sophie Smith reached the door with a big bag of items, she happened to overhear the conversation inside.
"Brother Asher, don’t blame Sister Sophie."
"Does this matter involve her?"
Irene hesitated a bit before raising her head.
"Not much involvement."
"So not much involvement means some involvement?"
"Anyway, just don’t blame Sister Sophie."
Asher Land’s lips formed a gentle smile, "Alright, I won’t blame her."
"Mm." Irene happily dove into his arms, "I was really scared to death; I can’t swim, thought I was going to drown."
"How could that be? You have a great fortune."
Sophie Smith stood dazed at the door, losing the courage to go in.
If she went in now, she felt she would just be out of place, she hesitated looking at the bag in her hand.
"Why isn’t Sister Sophie back yet? I’m getting a bit hungry."
Upon hearing Irene’s voice, Sophie Smith didn’t hesitate anymore, directly pushing the door open and walking in.
"I’m back, I just heard you mention my name at the door." Sophie Smith placed the items on the table, "Are you impatient from waiting?"
"Speak of the devil, just on time." Irene picked up chopsticks and stuffed her mouth with a big bite.
Sophie Smith was relieved, fortunately, Irene didn’t notice anything amiss.
Just as she regained her composure and was about to tidy up the messy clothes on the sofa, she found Asher Land staring at her with interest.
His eyes told her that nothing could be hidden from him.
