Asher Land’s mouth twitched, his face lined with exasperation as he looked at Sophie Smith ordering him around.
He followed her ’instructions’ one by one.
Sophie turned her big eyes, as if trying to recall how many times she owed him the words "dear".
Perhaps she spoke too quickly earlier, so she couldn’t remember how many times she actually said it.
"That’s enough, Sophie." Asher shook his head helplessly, "Three more times, I’ll save them for later."
Sophie didn’t say anything more; saving them was fine by her.
"Asher, can you pour me another glass of milk?"
After breakfast, Sophie was heading to the hospital again. Although she hired two caregivers for her father, she still couldn’t put her mind at ease.
"Where are you going later? I’ll take you there." Asher saw her getting up and stopped her.
"Aren’t you going to work? No need to bother." The truth was, Christopher Smith didn’t like Asher Land. If he saw her with Asher, his condition might worsen.
Sophie genuinely didn’t understand where Christopher’s prejudice against Asher came from. Back when the house was demolished, Asher’s investment company, Golden Era, did have conflicts, but they compromised later. It’s been so many years, yet Christopher never let it go. Honestly, Asher never did anything cruel to their family.
"Why are you being so polite to me?" Early this morning, he was in a great mood because of her few words of "dear," even if she said them half-heartedly.
"Really, it’s not necessary..."
"Sophie, I don’t want to hear your nonsense."
Well then, in Asher Land’s world, whatever he wants, others must comply unconditionally.
Sophie changed into a set of clothes and got into Asher’s car. There wasn’t much conversation between them in the car. She unintentionally glanced at him and was pleasantly surprised to see he was wearing the tie she gave him for his birthday.
Asher knew what she was looking at and loosened his tie casually before speaking slowly.

"If it’s so ugly, why are you wearing it?"
"To remind you of your bad taste."
Sophie couldn’t be bothered with him and turned her head to look out the window.
"I’m telling you, stay away from Oliver Johnson." He suddenly spoke.
"He’s a good person, and I like making friends with good people." The implied meaning was that she wouldn’t keep her distance from him.
She wasn’t wrong; Oliver Johnson was a big help with Christopher’s situation. If it were just her, she wouldn’t have managed.
Transferring hospitals and finding a good doctor were nearly impossible tasks for someone like her with no connections.
"Good person?" He snorted coldly. This woman really was too naive; a little kindness, and she’d be grateful for a lifetime.
"I don’t think he’s that simple..."
"Asher." She interrupted him. "Don’t judge others’ intentions with your own dubious motives."
"Villain? Gentleman?" His gaze fixed straight ahead, talking to himself, "Without a doubt, I’m the villain, and Oliver Johnson is the gentleman, right?"
No matter what he did, she wouldn’t see it. In her heart, he’s nothing but a demon, a complete demon.
He thought perhaps in this lifetime, he’d never clear the label of ’demon’ in her heart.
But now, he was eager to vindicate himself from that infamous ’demon’ title.
