Once everyone was seated, I took my place at the head of the table, my guardians flanking me on either side, their presence adding an air of formality and power to the room.
As I sat, I noticed curious glances being thrown toward them. I realized then that, despite the many stories they might have heard about Nazarick from Serafall and others, my guests hadn't yet been introduced to the beings who served me.
With a smile, I decided to remedy that.
"I haven't properly introduced my subordinates to you yet, have I?" I said, my voice echoing across the grand hall.
I gestured to my right, where Albedo stood with her usual elegance. Her golden eyes gleamed with pride as she scanned the room, her posture perfect, her expression calm and composed. There was an air of superiority around her, a confidence that radiated from her every movement. Yet, as she cast her gaze over the females in the group—Issey, Rias, Sona, Serafall, and Akeno—I noticed a subtle sneer forming on her lips.
Since they knew about Asia, they weren't that opposed to her becoming my lover.
Albedo's distaste for other women, who weren't part of Nazarick, was well-known to me. She saw them as competition—threats to her position as the one closest to me. And it wasn't just her.
To my left, Shalltear shared the same sentiments. Her crimson eyes flickered with annoyance each time they landed on the women of the Underworld delegation—Rias, Sona, Serafall and others . Both Albedo and Shalltear made their feelings painfully obvious, despite the outward respect they tried to show.
For them, this wasn't just an official meeting; it was a test of who could stay closest to me, who could claim more of my attention. The tension was thick, and I knew that introducing the guardians properly would only add fuel to the fire. Still, formalities were important, and I couldn't let personal feelings get in the way of the meeting.
Clearing my throat, I continued the introductions. "This is Albedo," I gestured to her, who stood to my right, her golden eyes glowing with a mixture of pride and possessiveness. "You have seen her on the Kuoh academy as the teacher and my sister. But Albedo oversees all the operations in Nazarick and ensures that everything runs smoothly."
Albedo stepped forward, her usual graceful and poised self. She bowed slightly, though the sneer on her lips remained when her gaze shifted toward the female members of the Underworld delegation.
"It is a pleasure to meet you all," Albedo said in a calm, authoritative tone. "I serve Lord Alex with unwavering loyalty, and I ensure that no harm will ever come to him or this great kingdom."
I moved on to the next introduction, sensing the need to break the tension. "And here," I gestured to Shalltear on my left, "we have Shalltear Bloodfallen, another one of my trusted guardians."
Shalltear stepped forward, her smirk widening as she locked eyes with Rias and Sona. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," she said, her voice smooth, almost seductive. "I, too, am devoted entirely to Lord Alex's service. If any threats arise, I will deal with them swiftly."
There was a subtle edge to her words, as if she wasn't just talking about external threats. Her gaze lingered a little too long on Serafall, who responded with a polite smile, though I could see the tension building.
I decided to move things along before the situation grew more uncomfortable. "Next, I'd like to introduce Demiurge," I said, nodding toward the demon who stood just behind Albedo.
Demiurge adjusted his glasses and stepped forward with a composed expression. "It is a great honour to be in the presence of such distinguished leaders," he began, his tone measured and polite. "I serve Lord Alex as the chief strategist and ensure that all of Nazarick's operations proceed without fail."
Ajuka, seated next to Sirzechs, became nervous for a second seeing Demiurge, but this move didn't go unnoticed by me.
I moved on to the next introduction. "And this," I said, gesturing to the towering figure of Cocytus, "is Cocytus, the commander of Nazarick's military forces."
Cocytus, with his massive, insectoid form, bowed deeply, his voice a low rumble as he spoke. "It. Is. An. Honour. To. Meet. You."
Next up were Aura and Mare, who stood slightly behind Cocytus. "These are Aura and Mare," I said, motioning for them to step forward.
Aura grinned as she greeted the delegation. "Nice to meet you all! My sister and I are in charge of managing the Sixth Floor and making sure everything runs smoothly there. If you ever need a tour, just let me know!"
Mare, her shy and quiet twin brother, gave a small bow, his voice barely above a whisper. "Y-Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Their introduction was met with warm smiles from the delegation, especially from Serafall, who seemed to take a liking to Mare's timid nature. "Aww, you're so cute!" she cooed, making Mare blush and shrink back a little.
