Sophie had just closed her eyes when the bedroom door was pushed open again from outside.
Alert, she opened her eyes and saw Thomas Shannon. She gave him a disdainful look and slowly closed her eyes again.
The man, reeking of smoke, came to the bedside and sat down.
His slightly cool hand took hold of her face.
Sophie frowned, turning her head slightly, but the hand on her cheek followed her like a shadow, never letting go.
She was so annoyed. Was she ever going to be allowed to rest?
"What was that look you gave me just now?" Thomas Shannon pinched her cheek and maliciously yanked it a few times.
Sophie swatted his hand away in annoyance. This rotten man! So utterly despicable!
"It’s a shame I didn’t hear your duck-like voice."
"..." This was a blatant personal attack!
"What are you staring at? Keep staring, and I’ll gouge your eyeballs out."
"..." Despicable, rotten man!
"Then wait until you’re better and come find me." Thomas Shannon chuckled softly and, with a show of magnanimity, finally released her cheek, now red from his pinching.
Sophie’s pale face immediately showed a red mark where he had pinched it.
She raised her hand, rubbed her cheek, then glared at him before closing her eyes.
This time, Thomas Shannon didn’t bother her again.
With her eyes closed, Sophie soon fell asleep, so she had no idea when he left.
The next day, Sophie finally understood what Thomas Shannon meant when he said, "Wait until you are better before you come looking for me."
Starting from the second day, Sophie hadn’t seen Thomas Shannon again.
She rested quietly for one week. During this week, Thomas Shannon didn’t show up.
Instead, Minimus Hart and Amelia Shaw came quite diligently.
They claimed to be visiting her, but their real purpose was probably only known to themselves.
The doctor suggested that she rest for another week before trying to speak some simple words. She couldn’t exert too much effort or speak too loudly.
Well, she had already had the surgery, so Sophie had no reason not to listen to the doctor and follow the medical advice.
She spent another boring week resting, with Harry finding his way into her bedroom each day.

Sophie was getting sick of being cooped up in the bedroom all the time.
She picked up Harry, left the bedroom, and went downstairs, intending to bask in the sun.
Just as she was about to leave the castle, she ran into Amelia Shaw.
When Sophie moved left, Amelia blocked her way; when Sophie moved right, Amelia stepped in front of her again.
This deliberate attempt to block her path made Sophie frown in displeasure. Her hazy eyes stared coldly at Amelia.
"Give me Harry," Amelia Shaw demanded, looking at Harry in Sophie’s arms.
That would depend on whether Harry was willing to go with her or not.
Sophie gave her a cold glance and walked around her, intending to leave.
