Sophie Sullivan’s lips curved. Let her take care of me? Is she sure it’s care, not an attempt to poison me?
She glanced at Thomas Shannon. I hope he doesn’t lose his mind and actually agree to let Amelia Shaw take care of me. If that were the case, I’d rather be left alone in peace. I don’t need anyone’s care.
Thomas Shannon’s eyebrows furrowed, the expression on his handsome face somewhat intriguing. He looked neither angry nor happy, and his inscrutable gaze was disconcerting.
Amelia Shaw stood by the bedside, wringing her hands. "Thomas, you’ve been tired these days. You should go home and rest. As for the maniac, if you’re worried, I can personally take care of her."
"There’s no need." His refusal was curt and decisive.
Sophie Sullivan closed her eyes in satisfaction. Good, good. He wasn’t foolish enough to actually let Amelia Shaw take care of me.
Amelia Shaw was unwilling to accept the rejection and wanted to try again. "Thomas, I can see you’ve been exhausted for a long time. Why don’t you let me take care of the maniac? Rest assured, I’ll take good care of her."
"I said, there’s no need. Can’t you understand plain language?"
Thomas Shannon’s icy voice was thick with impatience.
After being rebuffed so disdainfully, Amelia Shaw’s eyes instantly welled up with tears. When Sophie Sullivan opened her eyes, she saw her pitiful state. Truly a sight to evoke pity.
I’m very curious why Thomas Shannon had suddenly become so ruthless towards Amelia Shaw. Hadn’t he deeply cared for Amelia Shaw before? Men... so fickle.
"What are you still standing here for? Are you waiting for me to show you out?" Thomas Shannon’s deep eyes stared unblinkingly at Amelia Shaw.
Amelia Shaw’s heart clenched painfully. Heartbroken, with tears shimmering in her eyes, she nodded and practically fled the medical office.
Amelia Shaw left, and the room quieted down.
Sophie Sullivan closed her eyes, wanting to rest. Thomas Shannon’s voice sounded softly beside her ear, "Satisfied?"
Sophie Sullivan slowly opened her eyes, looking at him in confusion. Satisfied with what? He was the one who chose to be so heartless to Amelia Shaw. What did it have to do with me?
Meeting her gaze, Thomas Shannon’s lips curved slightly, and he chuckled softly without saying more.
He raised his hand and gently placed it over her eyes. Sophie Sullivan had no choice but to close them.
"Rest now, I’ll go find the doctor."
He stood up and turned to leave.
Leaving Sophie Sullivan staring blankly towards the doorway, utterly confused about what he had meant just now. What did he mean, was she satisfied? Was my animosity towards Amelia Shaw that obvious?
Thomas Shannon found the doctor and carefully inquired about Sophie Sullivan’s surgery and her current recovery status.
The doctor informed him of all the details and also mentioned that the maniac’s chances of recovery could reach eighty percent.
Thomas Shannon nodded with satisfaction. That nod was an affirmation of the doctor’s medical skills. It was an acknowledgment of his abilities, and the doctor was overjoyed.
"These past few days, besides the maniac, who else has come to see you?" Thomas Shannon asked, looking down as he unhurriedly lit a cigarette.
Smoke drifted upwards. The doctor thought for a moment before replying, "Only Minimus Hart came to see me. She said she had a headache and wanted me to prescribe some medicine for her."
"Yes, only Minimus Hart."
Thomas Shannon exhaled a puff of smoke and nodded calmly. "You can get back to your work."
Having received the Young Master’s order, the doctor turned and hurried off to his duties.
Finishing his cigarette, Thomas Shannon also turned and left.
