She surveyed her surroundings with a show of appraisal. "Are you getting used to this place?"
Amelia Shaw was covered in dirt, her hair disheveled and her face grimy. This unkempt appearance pleased Sophie Sullivan.
She asked with a smile, "Why don’t you say anything?"
Amelia Shaw glared at her. "It was you, wasn’t it?"
"What ’it was you’?" Sophie Sullivan raised an eyebrow. "I know the conditions here are terrible, but surely not bad enough to drive someone mad, right?"
The suspicion in her heart grew stronger.
Amelia Shaw rushed up to Sophie Sullivan, grabbing her by the collar. "You framed me, didn’t you?"
She pretended to argue with Thomas Shannon, then ’coincidentally’ ran into me and said those things to make me misunderstand. She knew I would try to take advantage of the situation, so she orchestrated this whole charade, causing Thomas Shannon to misunderstand me. And that’s why I was locked in the dark cell. This woman in front of me planned all of it!
"Amelia Shaw, stop pretending. The truth is already out. Who are you putting on this ’wrongfully accused’ act for? Thomas Shannon isn’t here."
It was her! It really was her!
Amelia Shaw, as if she’d gone mad, lunged forward and grabbed Sophie Sullivan by the throat. "You framed me! How dare you frame me!"
The moment Sophie Sullivan cried out, the man in black rushed forward and threw Amelia Shaw to the ground.
"Maniac, are you alright?"
Sophie Sullivan clutched her neck, her face deathly pale. "She’s gone mad..."
With that, Sophie Sullivan quickly departed.
The man in black shut the door, unmoved by Amelia Shaw’s desperate cries and screams inside, demanding to see Thomas Shannon.
The doctor knocked and, upon receiving permission, entered.
The doctor approached the desk and bowed respectfully to Thomas Shannon, who was seated there.
Thomas Shannon’s gaze shifted from the file to the doctor’s face, his lips curving slightly. "What is it?"
The doctor raised a hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead. "Young Master, I was taking inventory of the medicines today and found that one dose is missing. Yesterday, only Maniac visited my dispensary, so I suspect she stole that dose of medicine."
Thomas Shannon tapped his fingers intermittently on the tabletop, listening patiently.
The doctor looked at him. "An aphrodisiac."
Thomas Shannon’s eyes darkened, and his tapping fingers stilled. "Only Maniac went to your place yesterday?"
"Yes. Maniac said her vocal cords were bothering her and asked me to prescribe something. I examined her thoroughly but found no issues. Since she insisted on getting medicine, I had no choice but to give her some throat-soothing medicine."
The doctor recalled carefully. "Perhaps that was when Maniac stole the medicine, when I wasn’t looking."
"Yes, Young Master, I am certain."
The aphrodisiac was stolen. If she used it on the Young Master, and the matter was investigated, he would inevitably be held responsible too.

Thomas Shannon scoffed, raised his hand, and waved dismissively. "I understand. You may go."

Thomas Shannon lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
He chuckled softly, rubbing his brow bone with one hand. "Charlie River, Maniac is retaliating against Amelia Shaw. She’s gotten quite good at framing and setting people up."
