Charlie River nodded. "Indeed, we were all deceived by her."
However, subjective bias had played a larger part. Especially for the Young Master; the scales in his heart had unknowingly tipped towards the maniac. That was why Amelia Shaw had suffered such a miserable defeat this time. The Young Master had only needed to see the half-empty coffee cup on the tea table to conclude that Amelia Shaw had tampered with it. This clearly showed that, in his heart, he was biased towards the maniac.
Thomas Shannon leaned back in his boss chair, leisurely exhaling smoke. "The maniac needs a little punishment," he said.
"Young Master, how do you intend to punish the maniac?"
Thomas Shannon just smiled but said nothing.
Sophie Sullivan returned to the castle and ran right into the doctor, who was just coming out.
Having done something wrong, Sophie felt too guilty to look the doctor in the eye. When the doctor saw her, his face flushed red with anger. "Maniac, you!"
"Doctor, the medicine you prescribed is quite effective. My vocal cords don’t hurt anymore. I can shout and yell now. Thank you."
Without pausing for breath, Sophie said her piece and quickly slipped away.
The doctor turned, watched her retreating figure, and snorted. "The Young Master wants to see you. Come with me."
"What could Thomas Shannon possibly want with me?" Sophie didn’t want to move; her legs were incredibly sore.
Charlie River kept it brief and urged her, "The Young Master has little patience. Hurry up and follow me."
Sophie reluctantly followed Charlie River out.
Charlie River walked very quickly, and Sophie struggled to keep up. "Charlie River, where on earth is Thomas Shannon?"
"The Young Master is at the golf course."
That bastard! Sophie cursed internally. Why walk so far? What about the car? Is the car just for show?
It seemed Charlie River was deliberately tormenting her. His pace grew faster and faster, with no regard for whether Sophie could keep up behind him.
