"Yes." Sophie Sullivan averted her gaze and followed him.
As they entered the medical room, it was filled with people in white lab coats and nurses. Seeing the woman in a white lab coat, Sophie subconsciously retreated, a psychological fear gripping her. The shadow of the sedative seemed to follow her everywhere.
Sophie was held by two nurses, one on each side, and a doctor approached her, "I will perform the examination for you now."
An examination? What kind of examination?
Before Sophie could ask, the doctor firmly held her head in place. As the series of examinations progressed, Sophie came to understand that Thomas Shannon wanted to help cure her vocal cords.
When she had first woken up, her voice was hoarse, and every word she spoke caused a dull ache in her throat. As time passed, her throat gradually improved, but the improvement was only minimal. Speaking now was not as painful and strained as it had been when she first awoke.
Thomas Shannon sat to one side while Charlie River brought Harry, who had been adventuring in the castle, to him, personally handing the cat over. Upon seeing his master, Harry cowered. His furry little head affectionately rubbed against Thomas Shannon’s palm, meowing incessantly.
Using professional medical equipment, the doctor performed a thorough examination on Sophie. Afterward, he approached Thomas Shannon, his expression grave. "Young Master, the examination is complete."
Thomas Shannon, who was still playing with Harry, lazily replied, "Tell me."
"Her vocal cords have been burned and damaged. It will be quite difficult to fully heal them."
Thomas Shannon raised his head, his sharp eyes thoughtfully looking at Sophie. Burned?
"Yes. The initial assessment is that she was fed something caustic, causing her vocal cords to be burned and damaged."
There were too many mysteries surrounding her. But those mysteries were not his primary concern.
Furrowing his brows deeply, Thomas Shannon asked in a low voice, "Can they be healed?"
The doctor dared not make any promises and cautiously replied, "They can be healed, but the recovery period will be quite long. Treatment is a slow process, and I’m not sure if you can wait that long, Young Master..."
Whether or not he could wait depended on whether she still planned to escape.
Thomas Shannon raised his hand and gestured, dismissing the doctor to the side.
The nurses released Sophie, and she approached him. "Young Master."
"What did the doctor just tell you?"
Sophie pursed her lips. "Yes."
She wanted to know if there was any chance of her vocal cords recovering. After all, even she couldn’t bear this coarse, hoarse voice.

Everyone present, quick to read the room, lowered their heads.
A low laugh rumbled from Thomas Shannon’s throat; he was very pleased with her initiative.
The soft kiss was fleeting. Sophie pulled back, looked into the depths of his eyes, and said, "I need to know."
From merely wanting to know, it had become a demand. Her tone carried a barely perceptible hint of a command.
"The doctor said your vocal cords were damaged by burns, and healing them will be very difficult."
