Sophia Wood had no idea that Alice Turner had reached this conclusion based on her own guesses. Hearing Alice say that, Sophia completely trusted her and didn’t keep pressing the matter.
"Alright, focus on driving. I’ll hang up now."
The sound of the car horn was so clear just now that Sophia couldn’t have missed it. Not wanting to distract Alice from driving, she hung up first.
At this moment, Sophia Wood and Christopher Turner had already invited the guests to sit in the private room, and after finishing the call with Alice, she turned and walked into the room.
As she was about to reach the door of the private room, her phone suddenly rang. Thinking it was Alice calling back, she picked it up to answer, only to see it was her mother-in-law Isla Lane calling.
Sophia Wood stopped in her tracks, swiped at her phone, and answered the call.
"Hello! Mother-in-law!"
Her attitude was warm and gracious, yet not ingratiating.
"Mother-in-law! Benjamin’s dad and I are heading over there, you all are at home now, right?"
Christopher had sent the invitation to the Shaw Family days in advance. As in-laws, Alexander Shaw and Isla Lane felt they should come earlier to offer their congratulations.
While they were halfway there, they suddenly realized the Turner Family might be quite busy tonight, and they weren’t sure if the in-laws were at home.
Isla Lane called Sophia to ask about the situation, and while she was on the phone, Alexander slowed down the car to confirm before speeding up again.
Earlier on the way to the restaurant, Sophia Wood had mentioned to Christopher Turner that she was wondering why the Shaw couple hadn’t come over yet. She thought as in-laws, it was only courteous for them to come and congratulate them.
"We’re all at the restaurant right now, so you and your in-law don’t need to go to the house; just come directly to the restaurant." Finally, Sophia gave the name of the restaurant where they were presently to the person on the other end of the call, telling them to come here directly.
"Alright, we’re coming over now."
Upon knowing exactly where Sophia and the others were, Isla Lane responded and hung up the call, then gave the restaurant address to Alexander Shaw.
They turned the car around and headed to that restaurant.
After driving for about half an hour, they finally arrived at the restaurant.
"Isn’t that Alice."
Just as the car pulled up, Isla Lane saw Alice Turner heading towards the restaurant entrance. As she was about to lower the window to call out to Alice, she suddenly noticed Thomas Fisher next to Alice.
The two of them were chatting and laughing as they walked inside. Seeing this scene, her hand, extended out of the window, froze in place, and her facial expression also hardened instantly.
Noticing Isla Lane’s strange behavior, Alexander followed her gaze outside and saw Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher. "Thomas is here too; where’s Benjamin?"
He assumed Thomas had come with Benjamin Shaw and looked around, but did not see his son anywhere.
"Benjamin said he went to Easton’s place and won’t be coming to the Turner Family tonight. He said he’d come tomorrow." Hearing Alexander’s voice, Isla Lane snapped out of her surprise and turned back to her husband who had asked her a question.
Before leaving the house, Isla Lane had called Benjamin Shaw, wishing to go congratulate the Turners with her son, but was told by her son that he had gone to his best friend’s house.
Knowing that her son was at the Holmes Residence, Isla’s reaction was so intense just now when she saw Thomas and Alice together.
